On the date is fine. Of course, no one will hold it against you if you wanna start discussion before then.

My first copy was lost in the mail and currently I'm waiting for the replacement to arrive.

And the chosen film for February 8th March 8th is...

If you haven't seen Shuttle yet, would recommend watching it by yourself before doing the Xbox group thing. The movie definitely lends itself to a group watching but watching it that would first would ruin a lot of the suspense and tension that the movie has.

I should know, I just watched it tonight. Couldn't wait. The good news is that it is in HD for streaming. I would definitely watch it again as a group as there is also a lot to poke fun at as well even though i liked the movie overall.

Ugh...Don't Look Now. This movie ranks as one of the most overrated horror movies of all time. I tried watching it a year or so ago and hated it. I will try to give it another go but I seriously don't get the love.

I'm a big fan of Don't Look Now, so this will be a good excuse to watch it again. It's even better that I already own that DVD as well.

Will do. Thanks for the advice.

I'd also like to recommend Heart of Midnight, starring the girl from The Hitcher(original). A girl that has suffered some psychological problems inherits a nightclub that she moves out of mom's house to go re-open.

There ends up being a break in one night and she gets raped which brings on stress, obviously, but that stress, along with everything else going on, starts causes her mental issues to come out. I don't want to give out too much since then it'll spoil the movie.

I was watching it last night and was getting creeped out by it. Problem is, it's not the easiest movie to find but if you can, watch it.

Re: The Horror Film Club

Just finished watch the uncut version of Nightmare On Elm Street 5. About the only reason to watch it is for the uncut stuff, then the second half doesn't have any graphic kills and gets dull.

Re: The Horror Film Club

On a semi-related note, I just finished the workprint version of Hellraiser Bloodline. It wasn't that bad except for the jump where the main guy dies in the present time and then it's jumps to the future when some relative of his is in space.

I realize I'm not talking about the films we've lined up for watching but seeing as this is a horror film club, I hope there's no harm in talking about other horror films.

Chad, I forget if this has been mentioned yet, but could you move the selections around (when needed) to somewhat accommodate the Challenges?

I'm not sure if there should be a dedicated thread or if this is fine... but I like somewhere that we can chime in about horror movies we've watched like we do with the Horror Challenge.

On a related note, I'm about 3/4 through Hostel II... and it's taken me two days to get this far.

I liked that one simply because it was the first interaction I ever had with the series and I watched the workprint, which meant any special effects looked like something out of a Syfy channel movie. The part where they transmit her info to everyone on their cell phones was laughably bad.

I watched about 2/3 of The Car last night with the kids. They enjoyed it, which surprised me since I got bored after the beginning every time it showed up on TV. I like it more now and it has a special place in my heart since it takes place in Utah and I got stationed there for a year.

If that car ever needs a place to sleep, my driveway is always open.

Sure. That being said, we could definitely use a few Academy Award Nominated recommendations.

Just think of this as being the horror challenge's home away from home.

The film chosen for the February 22nd March 22nd selection is...

I'll nominate The Silence of the Lambs and Jaws if they can be used during the Academy Challenge.

Rearranging for the AA challenge.

Alright, I'll move the 2/8 selection (Don't look now) to the 3/22 spot and ask a mod to change the date of the current thread accordingly.

I'll also push back the 2/22 selection (The Legend of Hell House) to the 4/5 spot.

That'll free up both the 2/8 and 2/22 spots to accommodate the AA Challenge.

Re: The Horror Film Club

Alright, the NEW 2/8 selection has been chosen (previous selections pushed backed a month) and it is...

I like them both. They're the same exact movie man.

The Exorcist or Misery would another couple of good ones for the Academy Awards challenge.

I'll second Misery because I have somehow never watched it.

Neither have I. Tried catching it back when it was streaming on Netflix, but it turned out to be one of those fullscreen versions they occasionally use and off it went.
