THIS THREAD IS FOR DISCUSSION ONLY!

----> ACTUAL LISTS WILL GO HERE! <----

LINK IS OFFICIALLY ACTIVE!

THE "RULES"
Since 2005 the goal of the challenge has been to reach 100 horror / horror-related films. Your personal goal is as high or as low as you choose. Whether you achieve it, surpass it or don't even remotely come close to reaching it, the ultimate goal here is to enjoy yourself while conversing with fellow horror fans.
There will be a separate lists thread posted roughly 2 weeks prior to the start date. Be creative and personalize your list however you wish - give reviews, post pics, provide IMDB links with your titles, add YouTube videos, include running times (calculating total times is up to you), etc. The forum software now allows for unlimited post length, although you're still welcome to post it in a weekly or biweekly format. It's also recommended that you provide a link to the list in your signature for easier access. The only mandatory rule here is NUMBER YOUR LISTS!
What qualifies? If you're uncertain of the title's genre classification the IMDB and allmovie are good sources to determine its potential horror movie status. However, both sites have been known to make the occasional error and if you feel that's the case asking in the discussion thread is advised. Everything from Horror-comedies, Sci-Fi horror, wretchedly bad horror [INSERT CURRENT REMAKE HERE], kiddie horror, creature features, erotic horror, Masters of Horror (Yesssss, they're still considered movies) silents, made-for-TV movies, etc. will count. Mini-series count as 1 despite the running time. LEGITIMATE STAND-ALONE DOCUMENTARIES ONLY. NO FLUFF - That refers to featurettes produced exclusively for the film's disc as supplemental material. For example, don't try and pass off the featurettes, interviews, making of and the like as part of your list. TV SHOWS DO NOT COUNT (exception being those used as wild cards).
Commentaries are allowed as a "with or without" option.
DON'T VIEW THE SAME FILM MORE THAN ONCE! Remakes are the exception to the rule. In other words, don't watch the theatrical version of "The Exorcist" after already having viewed "The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen" and vice versa. The same holds true for all versions: director's cuts, unrated editions, colorized versions, fan edits, extended editions, "the version you supposedly couldn't see in a theater", etc. This is simply to encourage diversity and isn't set in stone.
The formats and where / how you watch them is strictly your call -- DVD, Blu-ray, HD DVD, at the theater, on television, public domain downloads (links provided below), VHS, Laserdisc, Video On Demand, Netflix, UMD, MiniDV, CED, Unbox, through your neighbor's window, Apple TV, Watch Instantly, Hulu, Youtube, Payperview, Betamax, via laptop, VCD, iPhone...you name it. And yes, that even includes the pan & scan edited-for-television movies that air on TBS with multiple pop-ups and commercial interruptions (NOT recommended!). Just make sure the film is viewed in it's entirety.
KEEP IT CIVIL! Please leave the arguments, hostility, name calling and accusations at the door. The mods are constantly monitoring this thread and will take any necessary actions.
You're welcome to include non-genre titles in your list, but please keep them separate from the qualifying ones and don't number them.

And then you can just invite whoever is online on that list into a party.
Spoiler:
Recently, Microsoft updated the Netflix player on the 360. Among the changes is the addition called 'Netflix Parties'. Basically someone is a host and invites people to watch a movie together. Everyone watches it at the same time, and we can communicate w/ voice during the movie.

You need an Xbox 360, a gold account, and a Netflix subscription. There's only one catch: For right now, Starz Play and Disney movies are not allowed to be used for parties.

We can use this thread to pick out movies and times to watch them. We can try to vary things up.

While we can watch classics or stuff we've all seen, I think it would be interesting to check out stuff that the entire group may not have watched. We could even take a gamble and watch god knows what. I think even some riffing on intentionally bad movies could be good for a laugh if done sparingly.

Ok, Chad - so I just watched Burial Ground for the first time and now I get to see your avatar of little Michael every time I come in to these threads. Yikes! That face is now permanently imprinted on my brain, I am sad to say.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 5th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (Oct 1-31) P

I wish there was some way I could justify watching the Rifftrax version of Transformers 2 for this challenge. Oh well.

Just finished The Crawlspace and onto Catholic Ghoulgirls. How can 3 girls in Catholic uniforms be ruined? Only in an indie movie where you have 2 skinny, unattractive girls with flat chests and 1 with a chest and that's only because she's chunky.

The one good thing I'll say about The Crawlspace is that anything you watch after it will seem like a good movie. Catholic Ghoulgirls isn't a good movie. The editing is bad, the fight scenes are laughable but ah oh god, the fat chick just exposed her breasts. Oh, it a different fat chick. See that? That wasn't a good thing but this movie inspired an emotion that wasn't boredom.

My only goal for tonight is to sleep through the night. Last night I woke up at 3 am and the night before was 4 am.

Oh yeah, I also saw the poster for Black Devil Doll, realized it was a remake of the classic and instantly got it. There was no questioning that purchase after seeing the poster.

Just watched Carrie tonight. That haunting piano music is a classic part of a great movie.
Also when her mother stabs her at the end of the movie and she comes down the stairs with that haunting smile on her face holding that big knife, it's just legendary.
That haunting smile, just so creepy.

"I love most other 30's Universal's, that's why I find it strange.
I think there are a lot of great Universal 30's horrors, The Black Cat, The Raven, Murders In The Rue Morgue, Dracula's Daughter. In fact it's my favorite time period for horror period"

Sorry CoolGhoul, I don't mean to mock the movies of the 30's. I have just drawn weary of a lot of them.
Who knows, They could be my favorites in a few years. It happens sometimes, You put away some older movies for awhile and then you come back to them after a year or two , and it's almost like their brand new again.

Well, after years of hearing this film being made fun of on MST3K I finally tracked down a copy of Killdozer. Though it's certainly worth the riffing it got, it did predate Christine and Maximum Overdrive.

I remember liking Killdozer when it was first shown in 1974. I haven't seen it since, but I would think it's not bad for a made-for-TV movie cheapie.

Can you explain to me why the guys just didn't leave the construction site? Maybe I missed an explanation for this.

Be prepared for the movie poster being the best thing about it unless you enjoy syfy level writing and directing.

This blog entry on Movie Morlocks (TCM) perfectly explains how I feel about "new horror" and "classic horror".

Indie movies, where the art and plot description is always better than the product itself.

One exception was when I was in blockbuster and almost rented a certain movie I don't recall the name of. After looking through the new release section some more, I came across a title from the same company and discovered their covers are just a template. One was a zombie head on the cover with the background and title in a certain way, the other was a zombie nun head with the same style for everything else.

I just put that title back. Not a good sign.

well, it's got some decent reviews (66% at Tomatoes) and the buzz from Sundance was pouring so i am still looking forward to it, if not tonight, then sometime soon and still think i will enjoy the hell out of it.

plus, the SteelBook art, especially the back, is some of the coolest in awhile.

I understand you have your opinion... but do you have to keep echoing it? we get it, your a fan of classical horror and not the newer stuff. Guess what, I am the exact opposite but I am not drudging it up everytime I get a chance.

It was OK. Wasn't anything memorable or anything like that. Kinda fun, kinda dumb, blah. You get it.

Sorry Chad, no more comments from me about behavior for fear of becoming Nostrafooey.

I jumped at something but can't remember what it was. But I laughed at myself.

Plus I was viciously rewarded with the death of a dvd player home theater in a box. So I lost all but tv speaker sound prior to the original TCM.
