I wish this started tonight : ) I just ordered Home Alone, Scrooged and Miracle on 34th St, so I'm getting ready. Think I'll make my goal an apropos 25.

Add TOKYO GODFATHERS (2003) to your Holiday viewing list. It's an animated comedy-drama from Satoshi Kon, the guy who directed PERFECT BLUE and PAPRIKA. It's set on Christmas Eve and Christmas and was inspired by John Ford's western, THREE GODFATHERS (1948). It deals with a "family" of three homeless people in Tokyo who find an abandoned baby on Christmas Eve and use what clues they can to find its mother. Along the way, coincidences and crossing paths converge to lead to union and reunion on several different fronts.
It's a wonderful movie.

Question: I caught a whole 2 minutes or so of Paul Blart: Mall Cop on cable today and noticed there were Christmas decorations up in the mall. I plan to watch the whole movie eventually, but is this something that would count for the challenge? I don't remember hearing anything about it being holiday related.

Are you sure you want to finish watching it? One of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I can't remember when it takes place, but if there are Christmas decorations it's safe to say it takes place around Christmas time and it would count.

Re: It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like The 5th Annual Holiday Movie Challenge (11/23-1

I just watched it about a month ago (and I have to agree with The Monkees, it was far, far worse than I expected). It takes place
Spoiler:
before Thanksgiving (they reference Black Friday as an upcoming event). There are some Christmas decorations up and they do make a few references to Christmas and, as mentioned, Black Friday.

It's borderline but one of the things I like about this challenge is the general permissiveness, so I'd say go ahead.

I didn't see this on the viewing lists, so I hope this isn't a repeat: on Thanksgiving at 6 pm EST, TCM is showing Plymouth Adventure, a very 1950s version of the Pilgrims' arrival in the New World on the Mayflower.

Glad to see someone else hated the movie. I can't understand how that movie made well over $100 million at the box office!

I don't have to work tomorrow, so I think I'll get in a few tv episodes tonight after midnight before I go to bed.

As with the horror challenge, I can primarily watch on the weekends, so I won't get on the board until probably T-Day.

Aw, you mean I can't watch Jingle All The Way (my favorite Christmas movie) over and over?

Just kidding.

Since I always watch A Christmas Story, It's A Wonderful Life & Scrooged each year anyway I'm in. I actually have a whole stack of Xmas stuff out anyway.

A Cheers Thanksgiving episode is kicking things off for me. I have to wake up in 5 hours for work, but couldn't resist waiting for the Challenge bell to toll.

Now that's a true fan of the holidays!

I just did a list of all the Thanksgiving episodes I have, and not too many, I usually don't watch too much Thanksgiving things, I'm in for the Christmas stuff, but I'm going to try to watch all the Thanksgiving episodes this year.

My plan is to go through quite a bit of my TV on DVD unwatched pile in the next few weeks. I'm sure I'll hit a few holiday episodes along the way. Interesting to begin the first season of Night Court just now and discover the 2nd episode titled "Santa Goes Downtown" stars Michael J. Fox.

Got home late last night (12am-ish) and was tired but wanted to get something in to start off... The wife wanted to watch Dexter though, so I gave in, and lo and behold it was a very special Thanksgiving Ep of Dexter. So off and running!!
