I don't recall the month or the year...all I remember is my first DVD was Bevery Hills Ninja and I got it at a Kmart. Ive seen that movie so many times it would almost be torture to have to watch it again.

First two movies I ever purchased on DVD were Gladiator and For Love of the Game. 2001 as I had just graduated and bought a DVD player and these movies with my first check after moving away for college.

Re: What was the first DVD that you purchased?
this kind of rhymes, but the first DVD I ever purchased was:
Se7en in 1997 (the snapper case, flipdisc version)
Of course that was years before the New Line 2-disc edition was released, great film and glad it was my first DVD. DVD's at that time were more expensive since it was a new format, I paid close to $30 for it I believe. I also purchased a player at the same time, I remember watching it and being impressed with the video/audio.

Bought my first player in may or june of 1997 for $500.00...a Sony which I still have today and runs perfectly. I bought Eraser and Space Jam and Blade Runner.
I also remember buying shortly after that, A Boy and His Dog and Backdraft both of which were in CD jewel cases at the time-
