Anyone pick this up?

I saw it at Best Buy yesterday and it has a tin slipcover around the packaging, similar to the latest Smallville and Season 2 Sarah Conner Chronicles.

Yeah sure. I would have done it already but couldn't find my camera and couldn't get my phone camera software installed because nokia's slow site. Now i found the camera and figured out a easier way to get the pics off my phone if I decide to take them with that.

I'll do it after I get back from work.

I picked it up. It's a nice set, nice Steelbook box.

The extra disc is a bit of a dissapointment, it's basically a 15 minute fluff piece featurette of stuff that's covered more in depth in the featureetts on the other discs. I wouldn't recommend dumping the box sets you already have in favor of this one (although I did do that) but it's a nice set.

They didn't secretly fix the first two seasons and put them in their proper anamorphic widescreen did they?

Re: Justice League: The Complete Series 11-10-09

Got my set a few days ago. My quick thoughts...

-Nice steel case for the set
-Slight mix up on the cases. I had to change slip covers as they were on the wrong cases...volume one slipcase was on volume two and vice versa
-No chance to go through everything but glad to have the series again

Still sad we didn't get a Blu Ray release of this. The episodes they've included on the Green Lantern and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies have been great.

Son of a bitch!

"This item has been discontinued by the manufacturer."

And I never got it because it was just a little too pricey. Superman is still available.

Hmm...Bestbuy and Amazon is showing a May 25th release date, with the other one on backorder. A reprint/re-release? Maybe without the metal case?

Ok I found this:

A strong seller in late 2009, Warner Home Video is re-issuing the Justice League: The Complete Series DVD collection.

Warner Home Video is slated to reissue the Justice League: The Complete Series DVD collection on Tuesday, May 25th, 2010. When asked why this title is being reissued, the representative for Warner Home Video could not confirm any specific reason. High demand resulting in a new re-issuing of the collection was cited a possible reason, though it could not be verified.

If high demand was the reason, they should also re-issue Batman the Complete Animated Series.

To re-issue that, though, they'd have to reprint the book, or manufacture a book-less version. This, they just whip up another batch of the same product as before. As for the sales of season 1 on Blu-ray, I think they shot themselves in the foot by having that come out around the same time that the Batman box was announced (or was it announced when the Batman box was released?). It sent the message, to me at least, that a complete series was possible, if not outright planned. I can only imagine how many DVD owners told themselves they weren't going to triple dip, and decided to hold off for a Blu-ray complete box.

I picked one up today at Best Buy for $89.99, which is way more than I want to pay, but I figure I'll just hang on to it until I see what the re-release is like. Better to have it and return it later than not have it at all. I wish I would have picked it up a while back though, when it was like 50 or 60 bucks, but oh well.

I'd rather wait for the proper presentation then own a product I'm not completely satisfied with. You'd think they could use some of the mad loot this product is apparently raking in to pay for the anamorphic widescreen transfers of the first two seasons.

I was one of them, but went with the dvd box as it appears a blu ray set isn't going to happen.

I think the bigger shot in the foot was in not releasing Season 1 on BD in 16:9....that would have enticed a lot more people to upgrade (which then could have led to a 16:9 release of S2)....sadly we are now stuck with a 4:3 S1 on both formats, and a non-anamorphic S2 in SD only....

A proper widescreen presentation of this series would have very likely pushed me to get a Bluray player sooner than I did. I'm still interested in it too, and I can wait till it's done right and watch plenty of other stuff in the meantime.

Does anybody know any extra information on the reissue of this set?? If there is any difference from the first pressing.

There is likely something different about the two releases, I just don't know what. The UPC for the 2009 release is different from the 2010 release.

Re: Justice League: The Complete Series 11-10-09

I've been wondering about this release as well. Ideally, we'd get season 1 in both 1.37 & 1.78, which would satisfy both crowds, and season 2 16:9 enhanced.

Regarding season 1, I only want to add that I generally go with how something is originally premiered. Being that season 1 aired first in 1.37, I go with that. Granted, each episode aired a few days(?) later at 1.78, so it would be ideal in my opinion to have both ratios on any future release of season 1.
