That WCW match listing doesn't look that good, hopefully the documentray will be good. I would like for them to release a Monday Nitro set.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

Having a look at the matches on the Netflix details for the Rise and Fall of WCW (The Main Event Six Man Tag has been confirmed by SilverVision). Doesn’t look too bad a set (hoping they don’t include some of the possibilities as they have already been released on DVD I tried to put * next to the ones already on other sets).

Here’s what I think some of the matches could be:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ric Flair vs. Magnum T.A. (SuperClash 85)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sting, Lex Luger & Barry Windham vs. Flair, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard (The Main Event - April, 88)

Picked up Against All Odds 2009 a week early at FYE for 14.99, also got Lockdown for 14.99 at FYE. Ended up trading in a ton of cd's, got well over $200 in store credit and completed my UFC Collection from 59-93.

Yes, that's the one a lot of people like the best, but I think I prefer the one from the Chi-Town Rumble in '89. I haven't seen it in a long time, so I'm not even 100% sure if I would think the same today. I did like it better back in '89, though.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

I find the list disappointing. There's a lot more stuff during the "rise" era than there is the "fall." I personally wanted to see more stuff like '97-01, so to see maybe four matches from '98, no matches from '99, and ONE from 2000 is just sad. Here are some good WCW matches that I would have enjoyed:

-Hulk Hogan vs. Vader (SuperBrawl 5, Uncensored, or Bash at the Beach '95
-Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage - Great American Bash '95
-Ric Flair vs. Sting vs. Lex Luger - Starrcade '95
-The Outsiders vs. Sting & Lex Luger - Hog Wild '96
-Hollywood Hogan vs. Randy Savage - Halloween Havoc '96
-Team NWO vs. Team Piper vs. Team WCW - Uncensored '97
-Roddy Piper vs. Ric Flair - Bash the Beach '97
-Any Savage/DDP Match
-Curt Hennig vs. Ric Flair - World War 3 '97
-Kevin Nash vs. The Giant/Bret Hart vs. Ric Flair - Souled Out '98
-Bret Hart vs. Randy Savage - Slamboree '98
-Sting vs. Goldberg - Nitro, 9/'98
-Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan vs. Sting vs. DDP - Spring Stampede '99
-Goldberg vs. Sid Vicious - Halloween Havoc '99
-Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk - SuperBrawl '00
-Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair - Uncensored '00
-the match where David Arquette wins the title
-Jeff Jarrett vs. Kevin Nash - Great American Bash '00
-Jeff Jarrett vs. Booker T - Bash at the Beach '00
-Scott Steiner vs. Goldberg - Fall Brawl '00
-Ric Flair - Sting - The Last Nitro

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

i would of liked to see some of those matches as well, fact is there is only so much you can do on 1 set, how can u put all the important matches from that many years on 2 discs?

they can do a whole set just on the nwo, or nitro, hopefully if this sells well they can release a volume 2 or something similiar to that

but for the space they had to work with this dvd is darn good, not perfect but im happy

Alright, that is a disappointing list. It might be worth it for the documentary alone, but I'll want to hear some reviews first; if it's anything new, or revisionist history.

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

whats wrong with the listing?
its not perfect but i like it
disc 1 and disc 3 are near perfect imo, disc 2 i hate, besides the chi town match im not really into it, and hogan-flair match is already on hogan's dvd, im sure most wcw fans already have hogans dvd

would of liked to see a few matches on disc 2 get replaced by later stuff like

booker t-jeff jarret bash at the beach 2000
sting-flair last match ever on nitro
couple more nwo matches from 96-98

hopefully there is a few extras on it as well

but this will sell huge imo, and maybe they will release a best of wcw with all the stuff they left out, just like what they did with ecw releases

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

there are only 23 chapters on disc 1, that means each chapter should have the proper amount of time to go over stuff, it should be atleast 2 hours, so thats 12-13 min per chapter which is lots
and put extras on disc 2 and 3 and all is good

Re: Official Wrestling DVD Discussion Thread - Volume XI

Looking at that list for s second time, I am very excited about this being released. This and the Smackdown! sets will be must buys for true wrestling fans. Although I do agree that the Hulk Hogan Vs Ric Flair match has been seen too many times, and I think if they were to add a WCW Hogan/Flair match, it should have been their Halloween Havoc 1994 Steel Cage match, with Mr.T as referee, or their Uncensored 1999 match. I would have also liked too have seen more from the Sting Vs nWo era, and stuff from 1999- 2001. I would have liked to have seen Sting vs Ric Flair on the last Nitro, and one the Sting vs Vampiro Human Torch match, from (I think) Great American Bash 2000. But it is a must buy just for the documentary.

The match list doesn't really have any star power. There were quite a few matches with the "big boys" that were worth the hype, and none of them are here. The fact that there are no matches from '99 and only one match from '00 is also a big disappointment.

A lot of these are tag-team matches which they could have put on the tag-team DVD and or cruiserweight stuff, which they could have put on the Rey or Eddie DVDs. I wanted to see more Hogan, Sting, Flair, Luger, Sid Vicious, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Goldberg, Scott Steiner, Booker T, Bret Hart, Jeff Jarrett.

Exactly. The inclusion of Hogan/Flair from Halloween Havoc '94, Uncensored '99, Sting vs. Flair, Sting vs. Vamprio would have been real pluses for me.

To me, the best match list this year has been the greatest stars of the 90s, which had a wonderful array of surprises.
