Just received mine as well. And yes, the footlocker is much nicer than I expected. Kind of an awkward design on the inside though, the flap you have to lift up holds all the dvd's and thus is pretty heavy. They should have just had them sit in the bottom of the foot locker. But a very nice set, I just hope I enjoy the show half as much as I did when I was a kid.

Some pictures of the set. The box is about 11"x8"x5" and weighs about 5 pounds. I put my old Rhino GI Joe: The Movie in there. There is a space for it where the 18th disc would go.

Re: Shout! to release complete series of Transformers and G.I.Joe summer 2009
I watched the first 3 discs of it while I was working yesterday and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. A couple things stood out:
I think the Transformers set is very nice, but Joe blows it away. And using the action figure artwork on the discs is awesome.
- The quality of the animation jumped considerably between the first miniseries and the 2nd.
- Monsters and other very un-military things show up much sooner than I remembered.
- I absolutely LOVE that Shout! not only put a "Play All" button in the menus, but they give you the option to watch multi-part episodes seamlessly.

*Love watching the discs seamlessly, nice touch there.
*Very nice and sturdy box
Now I just need to get the movie so I can fill in that open space for it.
All in all, I'd say this was money well spent

Wow, I don't really have interest in either of these sets, but they sure are beautiful. I love Shout! and hate Shout! so much at the same time. If only they had somehow included hubs in the damn F&G Yearbook instead of those cardboard slots...

the pics forced me to jump the fence and order both sets. Judging by history (and ebay over the last few years), I dont think there is any doubt these sets will retain their value (and possibly skyrocket if there is ever a gap they go OOP). Best to buy them at a non-inflated price while I can.

Mine too! Damnit! I really want both sets. These were two of my favorite shows as a child, and I collected all the toys. I still have some of my G.I. Joe action figures. If only money grew on trees, I'd be reliving my childhood right now!

Right there with you guys as I would love both of these myself, I just can't breakdown and throw $300 for them any time soon.
Nice looking sets though!

Got my Joe set today and it is fantastic. $5 more than Transformers, but I really like the presentation a lot more. Being able to watch the multipart episodes together continuously is also a nice feature. If it hadn't been mentioned in this thread I would never have even known since I rarely hit play all.

That Joe set looks miles over the Transformers one. Thanks for sharing pics.

I was one of the people who bought the Rhino releases and got the shaft when Rhino lost the rights before they put out the last half of Season 2. While the new box set is tempting, I can't justify buying them again. I like my old Rhino DVD's and am satisfied with them.
However, the one thing I'm slightly worried about is these new releases having the same episodes as the Rhino releases. Comparing the Rhino Season 1, Part 1 and the new Shout Season 1.1, we're off by about 15 episodes. It appears that there are another 43 episode for season 1 that Shout needs to put out. My guess is they'll break those up into 2 more release for a total of 3 sets making up season 1. Season 2 had 30 episodes and Rhino released 15 of them. I just hope that Shout does the same for Season 2 so I don't have to purchase them again.

Re: Shout! to release complete series of Transformers and G.I.Joe summer 2009
Remember the order of season 1 is off because the mini-series are included. Season 2.1 (from what B. Ward said in the forum over at Shout!) should be the same as Rhino.

Thanks, that's good to hear. Yes, Rhino released the 1st 10 episodes on the new Shout sets as a stand alone release, thus throwing the order off on the new release. Glad to hear they'll be straightened out by Season 2. I haven't visited the forum over at Shout. Any word from B. Ward as to how fast they expect to get these released? I'm guessing we'll get Season 2 next year.

Re: Shout! to release complete series of Transformers and G.I.Joe summer 2009
As a kid I had The pyramid of darkness on an old VHS and it was edited like a movie. When I got the Rhino sets I hated how it was split into parts, as I thoughts it was suppose to be a movie!
So this set will go to retailers eventaully right? Maybe I can get it with DD 25% off eventually? Or is this and Transformers a limited realease that I need to get now?
