No idea what this clue could be. Cronos? The Scorpion King?

Ya know... a bit surprising here... but I think you may be onto something with "Cronos".

I would think Cronos as well. The scarab looks identical to the one depicted on the out of print 10th Anniversary dvd. If this is true, I hope it is for both a dvd and blu-ray release.

Which of your older films are you excited to present on Blu-ray?

Del Toro: I believe that very, very, very soon we're going to be announcing a very special Blu-ray edition of Cronos. And when you know who is doing it and how we're doing it, it will be more exciting. I cannot announce it properly, but we're doing a Blu-ray of Cronos, which is very exciting for me, because it's one of those movies that I think I want to revisit, retime, restructure the sound for the Blu-ray experience in a big way. ...

Not a movie I especially like, though I've tried a few times, but Del Toro does generally contribute to some quality extras, so it should be a nice release for fans.

That is somewhat of a surprise. I'll pass on a purchase, but the Blu-ray will be a definite rental.

Well, based on the interview excerpt that gryffinmaster posted, I'm sure Cronos will get a Blu-Ray release as well.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. There aren't always a lot of titles Criterion announces that make me very excited, but this is definitely one of them.

Re: Criterion Newsletter - April 2009

Del Toro has stated he wants all his films on Blu-ray so I certainly hope so. That's the only way I'll buy it right upon release. I can't afford to spend as much on SD DVD's now... since I just find myself wanting to upgrade them later. Blu-ray, here we come!
