Halloween H20 - Anamorphic or Not?

I know this title used to be infamous for its packaging, but I noticed a version tonight that says "Enhanced for 16x9 televisions" on the back and lacking the special features that were never included in the first place. Is this a re-pressing with a 16x9 transfer or is the disc the same as the old non-enhanced one?

I've seen both the version with all the special features listed and the one with the corrected special features and neither said enhanced for 16x9 Televisions. I would like to hear some clarification, I would love an anamorphic print.

I bought H6 & H20 from the UK so that my Halloween collection would be anamorphic. It's region 2 and PAL though

I was about to post this question a few days ago. I bought mine back in 1999 and it was NOT anamorphic. I saw one on the Target Halloween DVD rack and it said that it was anamorphic.

Well Mirimax did reissue Highlander 3 as an anamorphic DVD, so it is possible that there is a new one.

Although I wonder if there will be a special edition of this when the remake comes out.

The one I bought back in the old days is not anamorphic and doesn't have the commentary track.

This is the worst special edition in existence. Somehow it's part of Dimension's "Collectors Series" and it has a 15 minute featurette. No commentary, no anamorphic enhancement. Just a shoddy effort overall.

My copy states that it's anamorphic but it isn't. Bummed me out.

I knew there was a reason I never bought this movie, lol - eventhough it's my favorite of the sequels...

I just watched this tonight and it was anamorphic. I know this is an old thread so maybe it is common knowlege by now but I thought I would post so people know there are anamorphic copies out there.

Is there an indicator on the packaging by which people could differentiate it from the non-anamorphic release?

By the way, was that long discussed commentary for H20 ever recorded, or has it never been more than a rumor?

It just has "Enhanced for 16x9 Televisions" on the back, but from the sound of it there are copies out there that say the same thing and yet aren't enhanced.

Is there any way you can post a pic of the back cover? I bought the disc when it was originally released in 1999 and recently purchased it again because of this talk about anamorphic copies floating around out there. The copy I just recently purchased stated "Enhanced for 16x9 Televisions" on the back, but was still non-anamorphic.

A copy of H20 in 16x9 is like the Holy Grail, it would seem.

Re: Halloween H20 - Anamorphic or Not?

I have to apologize, it turns out my copy isn't anamorphic after all. I was going to get a pic of my tv to show that it was, but when I put it into my HD DVD player lo and behold it was letterboxed and not anamorphic. I put it in my Panny BD-30 Blu-Ray player (the one I had watched it on) to make sure I wasn't going insane and it does play as though it is anamorphic. I guess somehow the Panny zooms in or something because there are bars on top but not on the sides, which is weird because it doesn't do that for any other non-anamorphic DVD's I have played on it. Sorry to all for the confusion.
Now I am curious though and will have to go back and see if it is in the correct AR or if there is any image lost on the sides.

Dammit!!!

Well, while a disappointing conclusion, thanks for clearing up that confusion.
