I accidentally ordered 2 copies at Amazon of the standard box set for $44.99 each
would it be smart to keep both unopened since it is a collectors item and the value might skyrocket or should I return one of the copies if there is a chance I might not get the full price I paid for it if I sell it at a future date?
I might buy the regular 2 disc version just to watch.

If there are 243,000 copies available, it's unlikely that yours is going to skyrocket in value, unless there was some crazy recall or something for one frame of Judy Garland being "compromised" that was inserted back into the film.

Hey Admonisher - thanks for the tip about the second disc on the walmart exclusive containing the disc three bonus material of the new 70th ann. set - that's what I was really interested in being able to have, the Victor Fleming doc and the Dreamer of Oz. I have no need for some photo book or a watch, I finally found the exclusive after looking around at three walmarts, seems to be sold out quick in my area and there was just two left after I got mine. those bonus features will go nice with the three disc edition I picked up a couple years back - thanks again for the info!

I couldn't find this mentioned elsewhere, so here goes. Wal-Mart is offering an exclusive 2-disc version of "The Wizard of Oz" for only $13, in which the second disc is actually disc THREE of the Ultimate Collector's Edition, including "The Dreamer of Oz." So for any DVD owners who own a previous set and/or just want the new transfer of "Wizard" and the "Dreamer" bonus film, this is an inexpensive way to accomplish that.
