Return To Sleepaway Camp - 10/14/08

from bloody-disgusting.com:

Inside you'll find the DVD cover art for the long, long delayed Return to Sleepaway Camp, which is finally arriving on DVD October 14th from Magnet Releasing. It's summer camp as usual at Camp Manabe where the kids torment each other for fun while the underpaid camp staff provide as little supervision as possible. Greedy camp owner Frank (Vincent Pastore) and junior partner Ronnie (Paul DeAngelo) do their best to keep everyone in line, but something sinister is about to put a slash in the roster. When campers and staff mysteriously begin disappearing and turning into gruesome corpses, paranoid Ronnie can't shake the memory of a series of grisly murders that took place at Camp Arawak where he worked 2 decades ago. Has a "ghost" from the past come back to haunt him?

Somehow, I just can't see Isaac Hayes as a chef.

Loved the first 3 but I'll rent this one.

Was Felissa Rose ever involved with this project?

Felissa IS in the film...but for how long who knows. Looks like crap (I'm even a fan of Parts 2 and 3!) but I'll buy it anyway... Birthday gift woo-hoo!

A rather ignominious way for Isaac Hayes to bow out.

Seriously. Was just going to post that here...

Then again, this was filmed several years ago, his last film was with Bernie Mac...

I wonder if it will have any extras. I used to think it was almost impossible to make a modern movie truly look old school, but this movie looks to have accomplished that.

why isn't Felissa Rose in the trailer? Plus Jonathan Tiersten and Paul DeAngelo are just briefly in the trailer (at the 2:08 point). If they want to do an H20 type of movie that lures back fans of the original, wouldn't they focus more on what Angela and Ricky are doing now and less on some fat kid who is both a bully and victim of bullying?

That is a damn sweet cover, but the trailer sure makes it not nearly as epic as the art. Just like in the old days when the art was awesome and the movie sucked. Hell, maybe (hopefully) it'll surprise us. At the very least I think it should be entertaining, even if it does look a bit overdone. Nothing a slasher fan can complain about too much!

I hope the flick is good and I want to see it, although I'd rather see that Michael Simpson sequel idea that's been kicking around.

More than likely a pass from me. I'm a fan of the first three films. They were mindless 80's horror trash - and I friggin' love them for that. I'm not expecting the same with this one, though. Too much time has passed. Unless it gets some great reviews I'm over it.

Edit: Just watched the trailer. Definite pass. That looks like total shit.

In total agreement. I love parts 2 and 3 (I prob watch them more then the original) but this looks terrible to me. Looks like that dumb American Pie movie where it's like Stiflers brother or something... for half the preview

I love the original, I was excited when I first heard Felissa Rose was coming back, but she's not in the trailer but listed on imdb so I'm assuming it's some crappy cameo role. I'm hoping the trailer is misleading us. I hope she is back as Angela and the main character. Otherwise it doesn't look very good. I'll rent it only because I work at a video store and will get to rent it for free.

Well watching the trailer, there is a scene where it appears a woman causes a car to fall on someone. That could be Angelia.

From most of the reviews I've seen so far,Felissa Rose doesn't have a big role....
Plus look at the DVD artwork, her name isn't on the front or back so that's bad.
I know she's not a big star or anything but....
C'mon she's the original & this is her long awaited return to the character....

Somebody's gotta have a better price than Best Buy which has a release date of 11/4/08 and a price of $24.99. I'll get it at Amazon which I'm sure will have a better price, otherwise I'll wait.

Watched the first 25-minutes of this tonight. It's one of the best unintentionally funny movies that I've seen in years. I can't wait to finish it. Someone get Mike Nelson on the phone!
