I don't mind either way. If it did movie into the spending tab, I'd want to know if there is any interest in still doing monthly stats in there.

Ok we'll leave it as it is then.

i think this thread were part of the spending tab, i would just get depressed from all the money spent, which is mostly why i don't use that thread.

also as depressed as the wallet is from the amazon deals lately.

Just curious, does anyone look or care about the stats?

Honestly, I had just recently wondered if you were doing them this month.

I'm sure it's a fair amount of trouble to go through and figure them out. I wouldn't bother with them if you don't want to do them. For anyone interested, it doesn't take much to glance through the thread/individual lists to compare how you're doing with everyone else.

That's my two cents!

I do. I'm a stat fiend, though. I keep track of most any competitive game I play to look back and remember, for example, that game of darts that I beat the computer by 400 in cricket My friends find it a little weird, but when I rattle off some random game that happened 5 years ago they think it's cool.

I'd recommend whittling it down to a few main categories like:

Total Participants
Total Movies To Watch
Total Movies Watched
Total Movies Bought
Top Movie Bought
Monthly Net Change (for the group)
Total Net Change (for the group)

and drop all the average/median categories. That way there are some stats but not a ton of work for yourself. Just a thought.

I tend to do that as well. It makes me feel better in comparison.

As far as the stats go, I do check them out, but I can understand the amount of work involved in compiling them, so I would understand if they were eliminated or cut down.

I've just been busy lately and haven't got around to doing them yet. Then I look at how long I've been skipping it this month and then get sad

Doing the averages and medians are the easiest since I set up excel to do it automatically.

Doing the top watched/bought movies is a little more work. I have a file for each one and I have to go through and copy everyone's stuff. Then if they numbered it or something I have to remove all that because for the next step I use a script to sort them alphabetically. Then as I'm going through that sorted list I have to pay attention for the times when a movie starts with "the" or "a" or something where some people leave it off and some don't. An example would be where someone puts "Simpsons season 9" and someone else does "The Simpsons season 9" or "A Scanner Darkly" or "Scanner Darkly"

That stuff is mostly just tedious work and since there has to be 3 movies bought/watched it isn't as bad as when I was doing 2 movies. It probably only takes an extra couple minutes to do, so I don't really need to complain.

As long as some people check them, I'll keep doing them and get the stuff done for today and make a goal to have them done in the future by the 5th of the month.

Thanks for the support

Skip 'em then. No sense busting your ass on 'em. This is all for fun anyway.

The only ones I'm curious about are the net change for the entire group for the month and total net change for the group. Kind of a running tally.

I ended up doing it all anyway.

I'm thinking of instead of just showing the last month's stat, I'll list it for the last 12 months or so. Then you could see more of how it's been going. I might get it started on this month's stuff but I'll plan on getting it done by at least next month.

Here's March

Unwatched Movie Pile: March 08

It's been 1 of doing this for me and I've increased my unwatched by over 600. Hopefully I'll have a better number by next March.

In totally unrelated news, I went out gold prospecting yesterday and we found a decent spot. No large nuggets or anything but we were getting something out of every pan
