"The Sting is in the Tale" -- I had to laugh. I want to NetFlix some of these, if only for the comedy value!

Never has a studio brought me such enjoyment without having seen a single film of theirs...

This is actually a sequel to a 1986 movie called Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold.

I was thinking, as bad as some of these are, most are better quality than the stuff Troma has been putting out the last few years. I used to really like their stuff but they fell into some crazy self-parody mode that's really lame.

They actually make some Asylum films seem like Citizen Kane after watching Lloyd goof around on the camera like it's some home movie made by a high school kid. Doesn't surprise me they're close to folding as a company.

Too bad the success of Pirates of the Caribbean didn't convince them to roll out a full-fledged re-release of Cutthroat Island. I'd like to see a Special Edition with some features that go behind the scenes on the production, and the aftermath. I'm sure most parties involved would like to forget it, but come on, if they could do it for Highlander 2, surely they could do it for Cutthroat Island.

King Solomon's Mines was a rip-off of Indy in the first place.

King Solomon's Mines is the prequel to Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold and this new Asylum movie is the 3rd in the series.

I bought three of their movies for $1.50 each when a local Movie Gallery closed down the other day. I figured that if I didn't check them out at that price, I would never watch one. I got Snakes on a a Train, Monster, and I am Omega.

I don't want to sound like a know-it-all dick, but King Solomon's Mines was actually a novel written in 1885 and has been adapted to film five or six times.

I don't think so since Dracula or Nosferatu was just one guy and there were more vampires than just those individuals.

It's kinda like werewolves. They were around before The Wolf Man came out but just because one movie has a werewolf doesn't mean it's a rip off of Wolf Man.

Frankenstein monsters would be more of a rip off since there isn't any sort of community of them. When they get made they basically get made the same way as the original.

Indy is a rip-off of numerous 1930-40s serials. The plot of Raiders was taken from a serial Secret Service in Africa, where Clayton Moore is an american agent in the mid-east trying to beat the Nazis to finding an ancient religious artifact. The Nazis want it because all the arab tribes will rally and follow whoever possesses it.

Which is a ripoff of John Buchan's novel Greenmantle, just updated from WWI to II and changing a prophet to an artefact. Just about every spy movie in the last 90 years can be said to be a rip-off of Greenmantle or one of Buchan's other novels.

Everything is a rip-off if you dig deep enough.

I have to admit that I kind of admire Asylum's moxy. Not only do they exploit a literary work in the public domain to ride on the coattails of one of this summer's blockbusters, they also word their advertising to make it seem that their film is the original and not the imitation. There isn't enough treasure in the world that would get me to watch any of their movies, but I tip my hat to Asylum's marketing department.

I think everyone disputing the legacy of Allan Quartermain are choosing to ignore the bold claim on the cover: "From the story that inspired Indiana Jones."

Street Racer...

Hmmm

It may not be the same nature as Speed Racer (but with same tone and sound of the movietitle)

Two competing groups of high school students must rally together and enter a song and dance competition in order to save their church from closing.

As long as we're mentioning all the Indy-like adventures, how about Secret of the Incas with Charlton Heston:
