Count me in again this year though I doubt I'll be able to view as many films as I did last year.

Titanic won 88 awards and had 48 additional nominations. Ha. Titanic won the "Blimp Award" for favorite movie at the Kids' Choice Awards. I can guarantee that if I was a kid, this would be about the last movie I would have wanted to see.

Just because I was curious - LOTR:ROTK had 117 wins & 66 additional nominations. That has to be the most.

Yeah, Letters from Iwo Jima also was nominated for crappy categories like Best Picture, Best Director (Clint Eastwood), and Best Original Screenplay, but of course Sound Effects Editing is the one everyone remembers.

Well, it only won for the sound anyway.

LOL. I have a movie desk calendar here at work, and it gives trivia like Oscar wins and such. When I wrote my little scenerio, I picked the first movie that had mention of an Oscar. It didn't mention any of the nominations. I'm gonna laugh if I come across "Footloose" later in the year and it mentions it's nomination.

Perhaps a suggestion for next year - why not have the challenge start on the day that the nominations come out? That seems to make the most sense to me.

On a sad note, I have seen NONE (yes, none!) of the movies nominated for ANY category this year. I'm hoping "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will be Blood" play in the theaters around here. I do have a few of the movies that have been nominated this year on DVD, so I will make a point to watch those.

I would do that but I have no idea when that happens. I just noticed they were announced today, but I didn't know what day in January it was going to happen on beforehand.

They know almost a year in advance of when the nominations are scheduled (down to the time!). I'm sure the Oscar site lists the nomination date well in advance too. No biggie, just a thought for next year!

I can't seem to find the post now, but didn't someone suggest that the challenge run through the end of February, since one of the channels (I forget which one) shows Oscar winners/nominees the entire month? I think it's a good idea, personally, I know I could use the extra five days.
