I picked up the UFC 83 DVD in Canada recently, and noticed it no longer says 'Disc Made In Canada.' So this leads me to believe the delay must have had to do with the Canadian producers of UFC DVDs, we must just be getting the same ones as America. Which is perfectly fine.

On another note, I got notified UFC 84, 85, and 86 are all on wait for me for release this Tuesday.

UFC 85: Bedlam and UFC 86: Jackson vs. Griffin are really two of the nicest UFC releases ever.

~ The covers are great. They're both sort of holographic shiny and have a sleek look to them. They're also really 'clean' looking, as they don't have messy photoshop brushing that we see on quite a bit of the recent UFC DVD covers.

~ Two discs. Huge plus of course. The Countdown show being a bonus feature on both is a great addition, and can't forget the Behind the Scenes feature.

~ They're both very 'complete' compared to a lot of UFC DVD's. The pre-hype fight video package is shown for every fight finally, and every fight also includes the post-fight interview.

If you haven't checked these out and are a fan, do yourself a huge favor and do so.

Sadly, no. That's still cut, for whatever reason.

Did you find them in store? I've seen 83 but not 84-86, best of fight nights, or total elimination absolute. Might have to just order everything from amazon.ca

Yup. I actually got UFC 83, 84, 85, 86 and Total Elimination Absolute 2006 from a local CD Plus store. They're really good for MMA DVD's since they do special orders, unlike say a bigger chain store.

Nice to hear you found them though.

Total Elimination Absolute is a great event, but a pretty average DVD. Cover art is boring, it's only one disc, lack of extras, etc. Nothing different from the recent PRIDE releases.

Pete Sell vs. Scott Smith
Alessio Sakara vs. Drew Mcfredries
Martin Kampmann vs.Drew Mcfredries
Renato Sobral v. Jason lambert
Keith Jardine vs. Houston Alexander
Jon Fitch vs. Roan Carneiro
Colin Robinson vs. Eddie Sanchez
Paul Taylor vs. Marcus Davis
Chris Leben vs. Terry Martin
Jon Koppenhaver vs. Jared Rollins
Roger Huerta vs. Clay Guida

Wasn't too thrilled with the overall match selection. I got the standard edition early and will probably be picking up the Blu-Ray version just because it's the first UFC title on blu-ray.

Yep, I picked UFC 87 up a few weeks ago. Ever since Zuffa smartened up and started making there PPV releases 2 discs I've been happy. This dvd continues the trend. Disc 2 has the spike tv countdown show, The Weigh-In's, The behind the scenes footage and the .Com Featurettes.

Hey Everyone,
I have watched UFC many times but have really only been getting more into it over the past 6 months or so. I really want to catch up on previous events, etc. and am interested in getting their DVDs. I collect a lot of wrestling DVDs and figure I'll do the same with MMA - concentrating on UFC first. My question is, how many UFC dvds are there? Does a full checklist exist? From there, how many versions of the same event/title are there (different cases, etc.), box sets, rare dvds, etc? Would it be possible to have a complete DVD collection? I realize the VHS would be hard to find unless used but what about the DVDs - are they similar to WWE and TNA in that there are often super short production runs of some artwork or titles?

I am in Canada also - do they typically release different artwork per country?

Cheers

Hey, welcome to our sport. A "complete" MMA collection will depend on how many different companies you are going to pursue. There are about 30-40 modern UFC events, about 10 classic events and I think 7 Ultimate Fighter seasons on DVD (Plus a dozen or so "best of" type DVDs). When you add PrideFC (the Japanese equivalent which I used to prefer) DVDs to the mix you'll find about 30 more, plus another 10 if you want to collect the Bushido series. Those I would call mandatory for any collector.

You can also find EliteXC DVDs (about 3) King of the Cage (about 15-20 with another dozen "best of compilations) and a few others if you do a search of MMA on Amazon. You can also find some smaller shows and really old events on DVD if you go to MMA specialty shops and sites.

I do not know of any checklist that will get you every DVD out there but if you find one let me know. The best I could come up with is the shop at Sherdog.com.

On a side note, be sure to get the movies Rites of Passage, Choke, The Smashing Machine and Redbelt for good movies and documentaries on the sport. Hope this helps a bit, I love my 150+ collection of events

Thanks for the reply NavinaBob. I was only actually referring to how many UFC DVDs there are - but I appreciate all the additional information. I'll keep looking for a checklist.

Cheers

If any of you have Dollar General stores in your area, you may wanna check them out.

All of the ones here have assortments of UFC dvd's for $5 now. I saw a bunch of them in the 50's and 60's. I'll have an accurate list here in just a bit as I', going back bc I couldn't remember which ones I had.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replies. I have spent some time searching and the list below is what I have came up with. What I haven't been able to determine is what DVDs are exclusive in Australia. I see tons of auctions in Australia and a few I don't see available anyplace else.

Also, I saw one picture of a red colored box set (looked similar to the black Ultimate Collection DVD box set) which I think said Vol 2 on it. I haven't been able to find the picture since so if anyone can clarify that would be great. CORRECTION: I found it on an Australian site and it is Ultimate Collection Vol 6.

Lastly, I do not know which DVDs are necessarily box sets (cardboard box vs multiple discs in a dvd case) or have cardboard sleeves around the cases. Any clarification is welcome!

Please feel free to add to this list as I try to make the checklist 100% (even if it's the same title with different cover art, etc. I want to make this as complete as possible).

If your going by region 1 dvd's and region 1 only, Ufc has only started releasing dvd's from UFC 39 to UFC 88 (due for release on the 27th of january)

UFC 57 is the only dvd not available by itself. You need to get it thru the Liddell-Couture Trilogy set. UFC 57 was only available at first thru UFC mail order dvd club after UFC video lost it's distribution deal. You can also find UFC 43 & 52 in the set.

As for earlier dvd's Lionsgate has the distrib rights and they release them under the "UFC classics" banner

They have currently released Ufc 1 thru 10, with 11 and 12 due in march. They have also re-issued UFC 1 thru 4 and 5 thru 8 in separate box sets

As for Non-UFC event titles,

There's UFC Knockouts 1 thru 5, with Volume 6 due on the 27th of January.

UFC Hits Vol 1
UFC Hits Vol 2
Ultimate Submissions,
Ultimate, Ultimate Knockouts (a comp of the previous 4 volumes)
Ultimate Iceman
UFC Ultimate Comebacks (DVD & BLU-RAY)
UFC: The Best of Fight Night
Best of 2007
Best of 2008 (3/24/2009)

As for Ultimate Fighter, Season 1 thru 7 and TUF 25 Tuffest Moments. Season 8, I assume later this year.

Not to leave anything out UFC also put out an Ultimate Boxset which included UFC 40, 43 through 50, plus Ultimate Knockouts Volumes 1 & 2. Also various "Ultimate 2 packs" starting with UFC 43 & 44, 45 & 46, 47 & 48, 49 & 50 And finally 51 & 52

Now...

The United Kingdom has a distributor by the name of FightDVD that has put out every UFC event from UFC 1 to 34, including the Ultimate Ultimate's, Brazil and Japan shows, Shows that have never seen DVD releases in the US. The earlier shows are 2 event releases, with UFC 35 thru current being released by themselves.

As for Australia. They have put out various Region 0 Boxsets that are nothing more then VHS converts. They play quite well, but they are what they are, VHS Quality.

Volume One - UFC 1 thru 10
Volume Two - UFC 11 Thru 20
Volume Three - UFC 21 Thru 30
Volume Four - 31 thru 37

That is an excellent list Shacmasta. Do you know if the Ultimate Collection DVD box set (black box with octagon in blue on the cover) is this made with the same material (garbage) that TNA uses for their box sets or is this more like what WWE would use for their Wrestlemania box sets, etc?

I am at work so I didn't get to read your reply in full detail, however, if not mentioned, what Region 1 releases are the hardest or impossible to get a hold of new?

Also, (and sorry if I have not completely interpreted everything yet) have any of the US releases been re-released - offering multiple versions floating around? I always like hearing about multiples or rare copies.

Cheers

Hello everyone. Glad to see this post is alive. I just got back into MMA and MMA DVD's. I was going to post but did not know if this was the most recent thread.

Anyways, the reason I am posting is to give the full list of Pride events on DVD to the person that posted the first message of this year. While they were not looking for the info, it inspired me to take the 30 minutes to do the list lol. One thing to remember is BCI is no more and all titles not name by Zuffa (UFC) should be out of print now.

Some notes on the list are as follows: These are all Region 1 DVDs, this is only the most recent version of each event to come out, there are 5 more events being released this year (release dates are from an MMA site who's name I am forgetting) and once those are out, there are only 4 PRIDE events not on DVD. Those events are the Shockwave/Dynamite 2002 event that was co-promoted with K-1 and the 3 The Best events (they are real events, think of Bushido before Bushido). The rights to the 2002 event are unknown for the US and odds are very low for The Best events due to not many people even knowing of them. Anyways, here is the list

Bushido Volume 1-3 box set
Bushido 4
Bushido 5
Bushido 6
Bushido 7
Bushido 8
Bushido 9
Bushido 12
Bushido 13
Critical Countdown 2004
Critical Countdown 2005
Final Conflict 2004
Final Conflict 2005
GP 2000 set (set includes the opening round and GP events)
GP 2003 set (includes the Total Elimination and Final Conflict events)
Legacy set Volume 1 – Shows 1-5
Legacy set Volume 2 – Shows 6-9, 11
Legacy set Volume 3 – Shows 12-16
Legacy set Volume 4 – Shows 17-18, 20-22
Legacy set Volume 5 – Shows 24-28
Pride 10 – Return of the Warriors – 2 Disc set
Pride 19 – Bad Blood – 2 Disc set
Pride 23 – Champions Chaos 2
Pride 29 – Fist of Fire
Pride 30 – Fully Loaded
Pride 32 – The Real Deal
Pride 33 – Second Coming
Pride 34 – Kamakazi
Shockwave 2003
Shockwave 2004
Shockwave 2005
Shockwave 2006
Total Elimination 2004
Total Elimination 2005

Coming Soon

Bushido 10 (Coming 6/2/2009)
Bushido 11 (Coming 3/3/2009)
Critical Countdown 2006 (aka Absolute) (Coming 2/3/2009)
Final Conflict Absolute (aka 2006) (Coming 4/7/2009)
Pride 31 (Coming 7/7/2009)

Events not on DVD

The Best Volume 1
The Best Volume 2
The Best Volume 3

Thanks
