Hopefully it'll have that fight scene from Vol.1 in full color instead of that terrible desaturated "black-and-white" like in the theaters here. I still think Tarantino's a pussy for doing that, but whatever.

So it would get an NC-17, play in very few theaters in which case you likely wouldn't have seen it.

I have the R2 Japanese box set that has the House of Blue Leaves scene in color, along with a number of other smaller, more subtle differences. I'm happy with it, and don't think I'll be dipping again. If it comes with DTS.....well.....I may reconsider.

I was a fan of the B&W... Hopefully the theatricals are still on there.

Well I'm over 17, so I could have still seen it. But yeah, I know it's all about money.

Ehhhh. I loved the movies, but honestly I haven't watched the versions I have more than once, so I don't know if I will double dip on this or not.

Me too, except I've already double dipped with the original US discs and the Japanese premium boxsets, so this will be a triple dip plus a quadruple dip whenever the HD version comes out. I'll buy them all. (it would be great if the HD version came out day and date with the DVD special edition, and had all the same extras. I don't know how likely that will be, but if it does I'll just get that).

Sure, I was holding off buying the DVDs because of the eventual release, and a month or two after I buy them this is anounced!

Oh well, although I'll probably wait a bit for the price to drop, unless I find a good sale. the Fall DD Perhaps?

The Turner Classic link shows the film as 2007, so that makes me think it might be a bit more than just a meshing of the two films. This may very well be an entire re-edit.

Oh yes! I've been waiting for this for an eternity. I trust them to do it right: DTS, commentaries up the ying-yang, deleted scenes... the works. And I expect some fancy-ass packaging too.

Yes it is - it's supposed to have a totally different flow than the 2-parter, so I don't know why everyone just assumes it'll be like having the 2-parter w/ diffrent cliffhanger and intro - it won't, so quicherbitchin'.

And also, the House of Blue Leaves scene isn't just in color, it's got pletny of added gore and blood-letting, that is not exactly subtle (the anime sequence is longer too).

Actually, there are no structural changes with the "combined" cut and it even had an intermission when screened theatrically (plus it's too long to fit on one DVD anyway).

There are slight changes throughout but nothing drastic.

Since we're expecting a four-discer, my question is whether or not I should sell off my two old R1 Miramax copies. Since two discs are likely to be "The Whole Bloody Affair", can we expect an LOTR-style two discs worth of extras (that'd be a first for QT) or just a disc for each of the original theatrical releases?

Personally, I think I'm going to hang on to the current releases until we get so more info on this one. Still, the thought of first uber-loaded QT disc (From Dusk Til Dawn aside) makes my mouth water.

It's not like the old ones will yield any sort of impressive coin at this point, anyway. You'd be a lot better off waiting anyway.

Great news, but not really that surprising. This is really the last chance to get out all the highly-demanded titles if they want to be able to sell them back to us again in HD a few years from now.

You're assuming it was Tarantino's decision. It probably wasn't. Disney owns Miramax and does not release movies with the NC-17 rating.

Darth's point was that most movie theater chains won't show NC-17 films, and most TV networks and many newspapers won't run ads for them. The rating severely limits the distribution of the film, regardless of how old you are.

Shelf space is more the issue than any money I'd make. Most of the time I end up trading my old discs to friends in exchange for a dinner or movie ("Yes, I'll be having the Surf and Turf").

I can sit tight on this one for a few months. Doesn't take away anticipation of what's going to be on the new set though!

Finally! Good God, I was getting pretty close to actually buying them both, but I'm glad I didn't.
