DVD Talk Limited Edition
Since the movie sadly bombed in theatres, i'm guessing this release will be to test the waters. If it's a major seller, they will re-release.
Still, shocked at no HD or BR release yet.

I actually think the cover art isnt too bad....
It could have been a lot worse at least....
However it appears that we wont be getting a special edition which really pisses me off seeing as this is one of my fav. films so far this year...
Add to this that Perfume was announced this week as well by those greedy bastards over at Paramount and after a 7 month wait it appears my favorite film of 2006 gets buttf*cked by only receiving one featurette...
Thanks alot Paramount...I am really losing my love for DVD in general now with all of these shitty releases for every great movie I love (Children of Men, Casino Royale, The Fountain etc.....)...
Oh well, i guess things cant always be perfect....
Hopefully we'll get a 3 disk Zodiac set sometime down the road...

Yeah but we get effed by having to pay more for it than we would have a few years ago like when New line released Del Toro's Blade II with even better features than P.L. for a decent price...
I went to Wal Mart at midnight on release day to pick this up but i saw the price at more than $27 and i walked right the hell out without picking it up...
I wont pay more than $20 for this one but hopefully it'll be a good price on a 20% off sale sometime soon...

"From the director of Seven and Panic Room" really pisses me off for some reason. If Eli Roth is getting a "Directed by *director's name*" credit under his movie titles, David Fincher sure as hell should.

Looks like this will be a crappy release of my favorite film of the year and possibly one of my favorite films of all-time (I'd have to see it at least a second time to know for sure).
I was looking for a Director's Cut, the A&E Casefiles doc on the Zodiac killer (or a similar doc to that), a making-of featurette, an audio commentary or two, etc.
In short, I was hoping for at least 2 discs. But Paramount is one of the worst studios ever when it comes to releasing SE's, so I should have known better. Even considering that the director has packed SE's for almost all his other films.

I was actually hoping this movie wouldn't be coming out on DVD for a while...as in, I was hoping they would re-release it in theatres in the fall and really give it the push it deserves. It is the best movie of the year, I don't expect to see anything better. It's just sad that a genuine masterpiece like this gets dumped in a bare-bones edition in the middle of the year, whereas relative fluff like Dreamgirls(fun movie, don't get me wrong) is given an insane three-disc treatment (at Target, at least) with all the accompanying hype. Oh well.

Well apparently Jake has done an audio commentary, more than likely for a SE down the road...

^ Well, I have no idea what the special features are on this edition, but it appears that there might be some hope for an SE at least.
Saw this at noon on a Saturday and it was the best movie theater experience I've had in years.

I dunno if you should blame Paramount directly for Perfume. It might be DreamWorks fault, Paramount is only distributing the DVD (as they do all DreamWorks films). And you never know, there is a 53m documentary on the R2 DVD, so perhaps that is the included "featurette".

Oh man! Wake up on a sunday morning and I read this!
Paramount is now like Warners once was concerning extras. Warner is the best studio now but they mistreated a lot of movies on dvd. Now Paramount jipped the best of 07, damn it!

Found a pretty comprehensive "Fact vs. Fincher" for people interested in the Zodiac case facts.

May 21, 2007 - On July 24, 2007, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Zodiac on DVD. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a cartoonist that single-handedly gets further in the case of the identity of the Zodiac than anyone in history. The DVD will feature tons of bonus materials and extra features, and will be available for the MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) of $29.98.

Not that I necessarily agree with the sentiment, but I thought it was pretty obvious when watching the flick.
Loved it as a horror film and a political one.
