Born on the Fourth of July special edition...
Just read it here on dvdanswers.com.Release date: 19th October 2004.Hope there's some cool extras.

So did I.I own the Oliver Stone collection and the flick is just barebones with only commentary and the disk is non-anamorphic.The transfer is also not that great.

Probably not much in the way of extras as this is a 2 1/2 hr movie, but atleast we'll get anamorphic (and I assume the excellent commentary)
I'm curious about both this and Universals re-issue of the Thing. Will they get new transfers or are they simply enhancing the previous ones? Not sure how that process works...

I hope it includes the deleted footage (as a supplement) that had been promised from the last go-around and that the new transfer is a major improvement (all that edge enhancement on the current release is really hard on the eyes after even a few minutes). But this'll be the third time I will be owning the film on DVD, so I hope this is it for a long time.

I was just about to post this, good thing I did a search first. Don't know how I missed this yesterday, but work has really been kickin my ass lately. 
I just almost bought this before the last release went OOP. I was sure they'd release it again soon, and here it is, sooner than i thought. Wahoo!
And also sooner than the re-release of Apollo 13 too? I figured that would be out first, but I was wrong. C'mon universal, cough it up already!

DVD Talk Ultimate Edition
Well this is awsome news and I am glad I only bought the last edition for 25 cents from Columbia House.
Even on a 4x3 screen,the transfer was terrible! The edge enhancment was too obvious in every scene and then the constant artifacts and a blurry picture which really made it not so fun to watch. I am glad I didn't pay more than 25 cents for that release!
So I will gladly pick up the remastered release for full retail if I have to. I love this film!
Now how the hell did this NOT win Best Picture,yet that pathetic Driving Miss Daisy did? More proof you can not trust the academy,the same thing happened to Stone yet again with J.F.K. which was truely the more powerful and worthy of being awarded Best Picture than Silence of the Lambs.
Just another example of why I could give a shit about what wins best picture anymore or worry if should I see every picture awarded that award? Nope,if the film is good,I will see if regardless of the awards it did or did not recieve.
So I always find it amusing to see some people pretending to be 'hip' by viewing every film ever awarded best picture,since that shows they 'know their stuff' or so they think.

I just picked this up, mainly because it says that there's a special feature called NBC: Behind the film. I wonder if this means they will show actual footage of the real Ron Kovic? I hope so.
