DVDs you've bought even though you *hate* the movie.
I saw a little bit of this talk in the Saw thread, where people were buying or were tempted to buy it just because of the case, and thought I'd start this thread.
This does no include blind buys where you don't know if you like the movie or not. It's just about special packaging, special features, sound and picture, and other things that convinced you to buy a DVD, even though you hate the movie.
The main one that I did this for was the Pearl Harbor Vista Series 4-disc set.

The DVD includes some really well made making of features, and there are numerous documentary programs on the real events. It also comes with some cool postcard replicas. A two minute feature called Why Letterbox? is also on the DVD, which is pretty cool, but it's an easter egg.
If this set wasn't put together, I never would have thought twice about adding this horrible movie to my collection.

The "Batman" Anthology comes to mind:
It includes "Batman & Robin", the worst movie I've ever seen. I watched that movie's extras, which were good, but I doubt I'll ever play the movie itself, since I bought it for the first three films.

All the DVDs I have, I enjoy on at least some level. Some of them may not be particularly great movies (Deathstalker, Hawk the Slayer, Amazons) and some of them I bought more because I'm a fan of the series than because of the movie itself (Highlander 2 & 3, Star Trek V, The Ring Two), but I can't say that I *HATE* any movie that I own.

I even saw it in the theater. Alone. Oh, the humanity. I've seen probably hundreds of movies. This was the first movie that was actually painful to watch. This is the first movie that made me lose my self respect. This is the first movie that I was actually embarrassed to be seen coming out of, and had to leave thru the fire escape. This is the first movie that made me feel dirty and ashamed. The plot twist was the most predictable in any movie I've ever seen. I won't make you suffer like I did, and spare you the awful reality that is "Superbabies". But just in case you want to know, the bad guy (played by John Voight) is actually the older brother of Kahuna, the 'hero' of the movie. You don't want to know more. DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE.

I bought Men In Black 2 because I found it at the pawn shop for $1.99
I hate Men in Black 2 (loved the first one)... but I couldn't pass up a double disc set for $1.99, plus being a DVD collector I must own all the sequels to movies I like.... even if they suck.

Showgirls, for the gift set. If a studio can make jokes about their release into a gift set and release it for pretty damn cheap ($25), I'm all over it!

Yeah.. I don't quite grasp this concept. I buy DVDs because I enjoy the shows or movies on them, not because of the box they come in or because I have another movie in the series.

Every movie I have bought I have found some enterainment value in them. But usually those average titles I do buy have some incentive, such as a DTS track, an assload of features, or a cheap price.

I actually have picked up a bunch that i wouldn't buy ever. Center Stage, Grudge, Summer Catch, and Analyze That are just a few. The reason was each was only $1. I figure if i hate it that much i could always just make a profit off it at some point. Even though it kills me when a friend comes over and says, "So, you own Center Stage?"
