I used to be much more of a completist than I am now, so for example, I bought all of Tim Burton's films, even though I hate Planet of the Apes and Mars Attacks! (though POTA had some interesting special features). But now, I've gotten over that, mostly...though I am still a completist about series and such. Thus, my list would include Star Wars Episodes I, II, and III (I don't entirely despise them, but I could live without them); Batman & Robin (though, again, great special features); Star Trek V, Insurrection, and Nemesis.

And as for those who "don't understand" this concept, it's a matter of being an anal completist...and all those titles I listed above were cheap, anyway.

Never..only buy movies that have replay value to me..to many great movies still to get to waste money on cool packaging or sequels that stink.

I wanted to jump in with Phantom Menace, too. But the question forced me to think about my love/hate relationship with these movies. (I walked out of "Sith" hating it most of all of them.)

I've decided that the problem is with me and my expectations. I hate them with my head, but love them with my heart. I'm now convinced I can get myself into the proper frame of mind (possibly with the aid of chemicals) to enjoy them with the proper state of intellectual innocence they require.

So no, I haven't bought movies I knew I truly hated just because of collectability or special features, although it's possible it could happen. If I had hated "12 Monkeys," for example (I didn't, but if I did), it would still be worth buying for the documentary.

So why did you buy it on DVD?

As much as I am puzzled by the reason behind it, your *joke* was quite presumptuous and pretentiously unfunny.

Anyway, as for the topic, the one that really comes close to that is the third Matrix. I was extremely disappointed with the movie but wouldn't go as far as saying that I *hate* it. Bought it just to complete the trilogy. Star Wars Episode II comes 2nd in this category.

I have to go with the Matrix boxset too. I just don't why I bought the damn thing. And I already had the single disk of the first movie (which I liked).

No! I would not buy a movie I didn't like. That will be throwing money away.

Wow, we got this far, and I get to be the first one to say 'The Godfather, Part III'.

Terrible, terrible movie. But a great box set.

None I dont have the money to waste just for my DVDs to collect dust. If I do a blind buy I check the reviews from trusted sources. I got burned once or twice and i promptly traded it in.

At first I thought "um, no, that's stupid".

Then I realized, I've bought crap films for other people, and I've bought OOP DVDs that I then sold for a profit.

The Fifth Element. The original release has absolutely zero going for it. I hated the movie as well, so I traded it. Of course I had to then get the Superbit for the reference transfer and DTS of this POS.

I bought Batman & Robin just because I had the other three movies. I also have the 4-disc Pearl Harbor just because it's an uber special edition.

At least my collection will never be caught dead with Taxi, White Chicks, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Catwoman or anything by Ashton Kutcher or Uwe Boll.

I think "The Day After Tomorrow" is a crappy film but for some reason I like to watch it. Eye candy I guess. It's a guilty pleasure.

I have. I knew full well that I hated the movie before I bought it anyway. The movie made my very uncomfortable, and I thought the acting was really bad. I wondered how so many people could like the movie, and how it could be given such praise. After watching the film, I couldn't get it out of my head. Some of the images stuck with me, and haunted me for weeks.

The movie in question?

Blue Velvet

Why did I buy it? To me, a movie is worth watching if it challenges me in some way, offers up something I've never seen before, or has some sort of impact on me. This did all three, so I figured that even though I hated it, I would gladly sit through it again to go through the uncomfortable experience once more.

If boxsets count, then I probably have plenty (I bought Ultimate Matrix Collection just for the new transfer on the Matrix only, hated the other two movies).

Otherwise, I bought all the Supermans (hated III and IV) and Batmans (hated Batman & Robin) just to have them all. I did get them at CH (at a very discounted price), so that makes me feel a little better.

Charlie's Angels / Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

I hate those movies with a passion, but they are nice to look at.

For me it was Halloween III. I had all the other ones and it just didn't seem right to got from 2 to 4 so I found it on Ebay for dirt cheap. Haven't even taken the wrapping off of it but at least I can say that I have all of them. I HATE that move!!!

None. I only buy movies I like. I'm not crazy about Alien Resurrection or Batman and Robin, but I don't hate them.

Luc Besson's "The Professional" Even though I thinks it's borderline kiddie porn, I love the action sequences.
