The Choppy Blade:Trinity DVD

While I can forgive the flaws in the movie to an extent this is probably the worst New Line DVD I have.

I had no clue that the Blade: Trinity DVD was going to have a extended cut of the film. Since I hadn't seen the movie in the theater I went with the normal cut. What followed was a movie that seemed to have a dozen layer changes. The film would hang at all the spots where new footage would be spliced in for the extended cut. Maybe there were reviews that mentioned this but I rarely read reviews for films I know I'm going to get.

I would of been happy with just the theatrical cut of the film so that I wouldn't have the movie hang over and over again. If they insisted on another cut it should of been on a third disc. I'm going to try it on my older players to see if it is as bad or worse on them.

Some players handle seamless branching better than others (I'm assuming this is what New Line did for this DVD). What kind of player did you watch it on? I'm curious if others see the same thing on different players.

I didn't notice any pauses or stutters or anything when I watched the theatrical cut. This is good, because I like it better than the unrated version. The goodies are on the unrated cut though, so having both is nice.

I noticed the multitude of layer changes as well. Haven't checked out the unrated version yet though so who knows what that's gonna look like.

got the unrated DVD today, running it on a Philips 727.

noticed a couple of layer changes/hiccups on the theatrical cut, but also a lot of hiccups during chapter transitions.

i tried out a couple scenes in the unrated version that were being figgity in the theatrical cut, and there were not any problems. i'll definitely try out the theatrical cut on a couple of other different players sometime soon.

pretty sloppy on New Line's part.

Isn't the Chronicles of Riddick: unrated version this way as well? I remember there being some jumpy scenes of the stuff cut back in. I believe the director explains this before the film starts.

Yeah, I think there were some jumpy scenes where the Narcomongers have the people in a large building and are to be converted. I noticed this a few days ago actually. Since the movie has scenes where people move quickly anyway, it almost appeared as if it was part of the movie.

Sorry, guess is was the wrong place to voice my opinion, of course you could have just avoided to comment altogether.

Question...if you intentionally buy the unrated version, why would you watch the theatrical version?

Same reason people watch/buy both the Extended and Theatrical releases of Lord of the Rings.

Oh, speaking of multiple "layer changes"...it seems like that when I was watching House of Flying Daggers last week, that it had two layer changes. Is that possible? Or did anybody else notice this?

You are assuming people bought the Theatrical version of Lord of The Rings. I only bought the Extended edition and it is the only one I want to see, same thing for Blade.

Not much of an assumption. People post their collections in their sigs, including the one I was replying to.

I went to Best Buy and got Blade 1 and 3 for $20. But...when I got home, my copy of Blade 1 had about 4 or 5 long scratches on one side of the disc. So, I took it back....opened up 5 more copies and they all had similar scratches in the same spot. It appeared that these all came in the same batch. I've never had this many copies be scratched. They only had 3 more left and all were loose. So the lady gave me a store credit. So I got a different deal. Buy Road Trip and Blade: Trinity for $20. Oh well....Circuit City has Blade 1 for $7.49 this week, I think.
