Word about six classics that might be coming... Including one that's Criterion
I had wrote thedigitalbits Barrie Maxwell if he knows if 6 classics were going to be released. The titles are
The Invaders (1942)
San Francisco (1936)
America, America (1963)
The Pied Piper (1942)
He wrote back:
There have been no concrete announcements on any of these titles. However, it is likely that Ninotchka will appear this fall as part of Warners Greta Garbo box set. The Invaders (also known as 49th Parallel) is in Criterion's plans for release, probably this year. San Francisco seems like a natural to appear in the Clark Gable box set that Warners has planned for 2006, but that's simply speculation on my part. Wings would be a Paramount release if they could be convinced to put it out, but previous bad experiences with silent titles in the VHS era have them dubious about a succesful DVD release. No rumours at all on America, America although with Kazan's name involved, it's a possibility. The Pied Piper seems like the most unlikely of these 6 titles to ever get a DVD release.
