I know most have never heard of this since it is not a mainstream Hollywood blockbuster, but for those w/ taste like me, it has been one of my most aniticpated DVDs of 2005 & I was in 2 Best Buys in NJ today & both had the box set out a nice 2 weeks ahead of street date.

For those that have no idea what the brilliance of Hanzo is. It is very much Japanese samurai exploitation, which alone should have you sold on the films which are a shocking & perverse yet hillarious & mesmerizing collection of 3 films staring the icon that is Shintaro Katsu (Zatoichi) & from the creator of the Lone Wolf & Cub series. Anyone who loves those will love this & any Zatoichi fan owes it to themselves to by this to see Shintaro play such an extremely different role in Hanzo "The Razor" Itami, the samurai cop.



If you need more convincing the tag line on the back of the box reas "HE’S DIRTIER THAN HARRY AND SHAFTIER THAN SHAFT" & if that doesn't convince you, well then have fun watching Hollywood fluff like Elektra

I've got the laserdiscs, and I hoped to see this come out someday. I was hoping that AnimEigo would be able to re-release it, but this should be as good.
