The discount is significantly higher on DDD, plus no sales tax or shipping.

Austin - there is no tax or shipping at amazon either.....compare the prices yourself.......amazon is cheaper than ddd is. How often does ddd have the 20% off discount?

Deep Discount is cheaper. I just went into your collection and used the DVDAF price comparison for the first 10 titles...here's how they stack up:

2 Days in the Valley
Amazon: $9.97
DDD: $5.99

24 - Season 1
Amazon: $41.99
DDD: $32.56

28 Days Later
Amazon: $25.18
DDD: $14.64

50 First Dates
Amazon: $14.96
DDD: $13.91

Airplane!
Amazon: $11.24
DDD: $9.36

American Pie
Amazon: $11.98
DDD: $9.35

Anchorman - Giftset
Amazon: $29.99
DDD: $28.80

Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Volume 1
Amazon: $22.49
DDD: $21.05

Austin Powers - Int'l Man of Mystery
Amazon: $11.97
DDD: $8.04

Bad Boys II
Amazon: $23.17
DDD: $21.96

....cheaper across the board.

thats interesting info.....I guess your right about that. But I just looked at DDD's main page and saw that the new releases were quite higher than what i have found at amazon. so maybe ddd offers lower prices on the older dvds.

Last September I believe I bought 36 DVDs due to Tv-on-DVD releases (Alias, Angel, Everwood, American Dreams, Felicity, and Popular) all bought on the same day

Well it sort of depends . . . Amazon sometimes does cheaper prices on new releases, but, honestly, I find Wal*Mart or Buy.com beat them out most of the time. But, for your average DVD, DDD and/or DVDPlanet usually have the best prices. Example:

TitleDDDDVDPlanetAmazon
Sky Captain & The World Of Tomorrow$21.14$22.46$22.49
Mulan$21.14$22.46$22.49
Karate Kid Boxed Set$25.77$27.71$27.71
The Matrix: Ultimate Limited Collection$53.89$59.94$59.94
Akira Kurosawa: Four Samurai Classics (Criterion Collection)$71.96$64.96$79.96
Rules Of The Game (Criterion Collection)$28.76$25.97$31.96
Cloak & Dagger$6.00$7.49$9.99
Black Hawk Down (3-disc)$29.86$29.96$35.96
Saving Private Ryan (60th Anniv. Edition)$13.99$14.96$14.99
Trainspotting (Director's Cut Collector's Edition)$20.51$22.49$23.99

Those were a pretty random selection of movies and, as you can see, when it comes to non-new releases, boxed sets, and Criterions, The combination of DDD an DVDPlanet beats amazon almost every time. Although, I have to say, I am suprised at how much closer Amazon has gotten to many of DVDPlanet's prices recently.

Day of release DDD usually drops its prices to be the lowest on the net. I usually don't preorder from them except for movies getting a 2nd or 3rd release (SE or something) which they often have the super low price as soon as it's listed such as the Star Trek SEs which are very low priced as soon as they are on DDD.

Dang . . . you guys were faster.

Oh well . . . as for the DDD 20% off sales, I've personally only ever seen two and they were once per year for the last two years. They cause quite the little flurrying of buying sprees (I think I bought 30 in the first go around and that was a pretty small order compared to many).

I got 8 once on a trip to Best Buy and Target (as a birthday gift to myself). I also ordered 9 at once during last summer's DDD sale, but they didn't all come on the same day (between back-orders and such). I've also had 2 7 DVD days through Columbia House enrollments.
