New Line Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Sea Inside for 17th May 2005 priced at $27.95 SRP. The right to enjoy life and end it with dignity is at the controversial core of Alejandro Amenábar’s Academy Award® winning drama The Sea Inside. Golden Globe®-nominee Javier Bardem (Before Night Falls, Collateral) delivers one of the year’s most unforgettable performances as poet and quadriplegic Ramón Sampedro in a literal fight for his life. Based on a true story, Sampedro’s 30-year struggle with the Spanish government and the Catholic Church for the right to die inspired both an outpouring of support and criticism from his family, friends and strangers.

Features include:

* 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
* Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround
* Stereo Surround Sound (English)
* English and Spanish subtitles
* Commentary from writer-director Alejandro Amenábar
* Deleted scenes
* Behind the scenes documentary

I'm a huge Bardem fan but never got the chance to see this in theaters, I think I'm just gonna have to go for a blind buy on this, such an amazing actor. Thanks for the news

You won't regret it. The film is SUPERB. Believe it or not the only thing I disliked about this film was the soundtrack.
