The Warriors, but I think there's a new version coming out, so I might hold off.

Assault on Precinct 13 is pretty good, but I love the Warriors.

Wow. Two GREAT flicks. I'm not sure I could choose which one I like more. However, the films being equal, The PRECINCT 13 DVD includes a solid commentary by Carpenter, whereas WARRIORS is bare-bones.

Keep that in mind as a tie-breaker.

Go with the Warriors disc for now, and you will probably be ready to buy the SE when it comes out too.

You can get both for $15 ... not sure I understand what the fuss is about.

Personally, I would get both .. but in the order of Warriors first and Assault second ...

Assault on Precinct 13 is a great movie, but The Warriors is an all-time favorite of mine, so definitely The Warriors.

THERE HE IS! THAT'S HIM! THAT'S...THE WARRIOR! HE SHOT CYRUS! THE WARRIORS DID IT! THE WARRIORS DID IT! THE WARRIORS DID IT!!!

Yes. I don't get it, either - if you buy Assault on Precinct 13 by itself, it costs about 18.00, but you can buy the exact same disc in the 2 pack for 9.99. I bought the two pack for 7.99 on one of DDD sales. I recommend it. FYI, they are doing a re-make of Assault on Precinct 13. The Warriors was good too.

The Warriors, no question BUT at least some of the music has been overdubbed with bad sound alikes.
I'm not sure about the Eagles at the end but Martha & the Vandellas 'Nowhere to Run' has been changed.

Both of them are horribly dated, with terrible acting, cheaper-than-cheap production and silly, unrealistic storytelling.

I love 'em like they're my own children.

Assault has the better (non?-)story, with a template copied zillions of times (itself a copy of Rio Bravo)... The Warriors has TONS of fun lines, however. Both have their strengths and flaws. The pace is Assault can be monotonous, while the different gang getups in Warriors seem like cartoons. I do love David Patrick Kelly in The Warriors... basically playing a younger version of his character from The Crow. Come out to play-ay...

I'd go for Assault On Precinct 13 right now, as the Carpenter commentary is very informative. With the remake of The Warriors on the way, Paramount will probably do a "Special Collector's Edition" to capitalize.

Why the choice anyway? You can get 'em both for cheap.

Agreed. Personally it seemed like forever waiting on a Warriors release, and then when it came I had a helluva time locating it- and it had a MUCH higher MSRP at the time. When you can get them both for less than the going price of most new releases, grab 'em and take them home with you......then if you upgrade down the road trade or pawn 'em and recoup a few of your dollars

Saw the preview for it in theatres a few weeks ago and its different than the original. The new one the cops are the ones trying to get in and kill the ppl inside the station cause they want to silence the criminal inside so he doesnt testify against them. Something like that.

Nothing beats the vanilla swirl killing of the original Assault. Brutal. And Napolean Wilson rules!
