Being a Connery fan I love Outland, saw it at the theater when it was released. I've since owned it on both VHS as well as DVD and recently pulled it out and watched it on my 57 inch Hitachi......the transfer is just awful. Definitely needs a better transfer.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...THE WILD BUNCH. The thing's a flipper for fuck's sake!

Lots of other great suggestions in here though. I know I'd get The Game, The Jerk, and many of the others mentioned.

Better Treatment

To name a quick few off the top of my head I would like to see better treatment of . . .

Empire of the Sun
The English Patient
Phenomenon
12 Monkeys
Silverado
The Waterboy
Henry and June

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

I know this isn't a "classic", but it is a movie i really enjoy. The current DVD is totally bare-boned in the extras department, not even a stinkin' trailer. At least it is anamorphic.

Last of the Mohicans - no extras at all, and they butchered the Director's expanded edition - minor cuts in violence, a couple lines of dialog, and a great song was removed from the soundtrack.

The Color of Money - barebones, 4.1 surround, non-anamorphic.

Tin Cup - one of my favorite sports flicks, barebones disc.

I'd like to add The Elephant Man(extras),
The current DVD has a making-of documentary, the trailer, and a featurette on the makeup. The a/v is flawless. I don't think it needs anything else, especially since David Lynch doesn't do commentaries.

Annie Hall - Non Anamorphic
Bananas - Non Anamorphic
Everything You Always Wanted To Know... - Non Anamorphic
Three Amigos - Non Anamorphic
Bananas and Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex are both 16x9 enhanced.

Braveheart - your basic no frills dvd. Sure it has a commentary, but damn Mel is boring. There could be so much more. Not to mention the color discrepencies between this and the original LD transfer.

Fistful of Dollars (Anamorphic, please?)
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (a Widescreen version would be nice)
Bullitt

I'd like to see The Idolmaker in Widescreen. I'll buy Fullscreen if I have to but it's like watching a film with only one eye open.

Has anyone mentioned 'Crimson Tide'?

Also, agree with Planes, Trains and Automobiles..my fave comedy from the 80's.

Also agree on 'The Game' and 'Scent of a Woman.'

According to DVDTalk's re-release thread, there is a SE of this coming, but no specific date.

I agree on Ace Ventura - I have been tempted on several opportunities to buy the FS release very cheap ($3-4), but just won't do it.

I second that! I watched it last night and couldn't believe how bad it looked.

First off, Fantastic Four and Captain America don't even have current DVD releases, so I didn't understand the purpose of the above post.

I second most of the titles on this thread. Anything not released on OAR needs to be redone, and any realtively big release should have a SE.

I would like to add:
Creepshow The current disc has a god awful transfer. The widescreen version doesn't frame the picture right where you can read the comic book captions and also the full frame version isn't much better.

Rainmaker and Bulworth are two movies I just absolutely love but don't own on DVD because I am waiting for better releases.

*slaps head*

can't believe I forgot to include 'Grosse Pointe Blank' as a disc well-deserving the SE treatment. Definitely one of the coolest cult films of the 90's.

Although this is anamorphic as was mentioned above, the print is in terrible shape and this could use a restoration.

Some of these have new editions in the works. My personal wishlist...

The Last Emperor (not 16X9, bad transfer)
Fistful of Dollars (not 16X9)
For a Few Dollars More (not 16X9)
High Plains Drifter (not 16X9)
The Wild Bunch (not 16X9, bad transfer, flipper)
From Dusk Til Dawn (not 16X9)
Hang Em' High (16X9 but not a great transfer)
Killing Zoe (see Hang Em' High)
Drugstore Cowboy (to a lesser extent, needs a little cleaning)
WB's widescreen Kubrick films should all be 16X9 (can of worms, meet dead horse)
Psycho (not 16X9)
Vertigo (not 16X9)
Yellow Submarine (not 16X9)
Dead Ringers (not 16X9. Otherwise, the CC is pretty nice)
2010 (not 16X9)

And so on... Pretty much any film that is currently presented letterboxed with no anamorphic enhancement deserves a better treatment.
