Audition to be rereleased August 23rd
This is going for alot of money on ebay and the used section on amazon.
Ebay is also full of bootlegs, which is making official legit copies tough to come by.
Will this film ever be rereleased anytime soon? I would love to pick it up. But it was too expensive at the time,so I waited and it just disappeared from the shelves.
So now it is even more expensive(if you want a legit R1 copy) than previouslly. Just my luck, lol.

I sold my R1 copy a few months ago, anticipating getting the R2. Boy, that was a mistake... anyway, i'll probably get the R2 in a few months if I don't hear any news about a possible re-release.

is this DVD OOP? or is it just hard to find at B&M stores now? remember seeing it a bunch at borders and best buy, but not anymore.

I'll be out DVD-hunting today and if I spot it at a reasonable price, I'll post back here.

Amazon.com has three used copies for $100,lol.
I am not going to risk paying 'that' much for a dvd. Also one of the legit high priced editions on ebay is the R rated version! Pity those who buy the censored version at that price!
I also remember the days when it was easy to find a $20+ copy of the unrated version at Best Buy,Borders and other stores(while Blockbuster & Hollywood had the R version). So I was waiting for the eventual price drop, which never happened and actually the dvd disappeared quickly within months of its release.
But I foolishly thought it would be oh so easy to find later on,but when I wasn't looking. It just vanished and now I am kicking myself for not picking it up when I had the chance.

Also another reason I waited was because I had not seen the film at the time. So I didn't want to risk $25 on a film I have never seen before, nor wanted to view it censored(if rented).
So it was not until a year and a half ago that the Sundance Channel aired the unrated version. That I finally got to see the film and was rather disturbed by it. So since then,I have been wanting to pick it up,but can't find it listed anywhere online anymore.

It is OUT OF PRINT
That is the only reason. Once something becomes harder to find, the price goes up. But I would say do NOT waste money on the dvd. Since it appears to be non-anamorphic(according to the box) and will more than likely be rereleased eventually.

i am absolutely shocked at how much this costs. i remember just a year ago when i saw tons of copies on sale for dirt cheap; it's simply because it's out of print and with all the hype around asian horror these days it's become rekindled again. you can always get the r0 asian releases if you want to see the film, and many blockbusters carry it
incidentally, the guy protagonist in the movie is ALSO the inspector guy from the US version of the grudge!

I think the R1 is the same as R2 movie wise, but I think the R1 has a ton more extras.

Damn, I wondering why I couldn't find this on DDD's site. I should have bought it when I saw it last year. I guess the reason why it is so expensive, is because it is out of print, and was put out by a small company that probably didn't press a whole lot of copies to begin with. It's pretty much a niche release afterall. An OOP title from a small company will probably almost always bring more money than an OOP major studio release (except in a few special cases).
