Ok, I thought you were arguing that the DVD was anamorphic. It's widescreen, but not enhanced which means not anamorphic.

Watched it twice yesterday with and without commentary (US version).

Although the first is definitely my favorite, this one is good. I would give it a solid "B+".

axolotls return...it seems like a prequel to me. Why do you think it didn't?

The Canadian version says Enhanced for 16x9, doesn't that mean it is anamorphic?

I think I might go with that version if it is, plus the added trailers.

A review and 2 users (on another forum) say it's not so it's good enough for me.

But I'm going to get it for review in a week or two so if you want to wait until then for further confirmation, it's up to you.

And yes, the US version is anamorphic.

I watched the US disc last night and thought the picture quality was excellent. The film was not quite as good as the first movie but a lot better than the second one and easily one of the better horror flicks I've seen in a while. I like the way they have made a movie that basically places the same two characters in a different story that takes place about 100 years earlier. The result feels a little more like a 60's Hammer film rather than just another rehash or quickie cash-in of the first Ginger Snaps. I would say this is probably the best sequel/prequel to a horror film in at least 10 years.

A few screenshots below with the first being full-rez. The others have image links.

Reading through this thread, it looks as if some of the people took that back cover, which says "16:9", to mean that it *is* anamorphic when, in fact, by my reading, it would seem to be confirming that it's not. They're saying 16:9 as the widescreen ratio, it specifically *doesn't* say that it's "anamorphic enhanced" or "enhanced for 16:9 playback", it just says "widescreen 16:9" which is a ratio.

Not sure, but that's just where I'm guessing the mistake stems from. Unless those back specs were American, but it does say "French"...

agreed! however some sites say enhanced 16:9, some say anamorphic specifically, some don't mention, and some just widescreen. thus...my confusion.
Also, the other 2 Canadian releases were anamorphic so I highly DOUBT the 3rd would not be.

DAMNIT! I went to every place in town that sells DVDs and no one had it . Im so mad now, i've been waiting for this movie for a long time now. Walmart said they may get it eventually...sometimes they don't get it until the weekend. So HOPEFULLY...they'll have it tomorrow or something.

But blockbuster had like 10 copies out for rental. Ginger Snaps II only had 2...which is odd, since that did go to theatres...in Canada n e ways. But n e ways, none to buy...just rent. I'd rent it, but if I do i won't have enough if it comes out on the weekend

Yikes. Did we see the same movie? Gotta be hard up for Hammer to make that leap. Ginger Snaps 3 is featured in my current column.
