Sign my DVD please?

I don't have very many myself:

The Fellowship of the Ring signed by Viggo Mortensen (in person)

The Two Towers signed by John Rhys-Davies, Andy Serkis (in person)

The Return of the King signed by Dom Monaghan(in person)

The Raiders of the Lost Ark signed by John Rhys-Davies (in person)

T2 DVDs signed by Stan Winston (in person)

Spiderman gift set and X-men by Stan Lee (in person)

Not technically a DVD but.......Quentin Tarantino

I also have Ray Harryhausen's auto, but not on a DVD. I met him at Comic Con.

List yours! I expect that the replies will be pretty interesting and varied. Post scans/pics if you got em!

-Chuck

got a couple....

signed by Jonathan Demme & Thandie Newton

signed by Jonathan Demme

Also have:

Fatal Attraction - signed by Michael Douglas & Glenn Close

Devil's Backbone - signed by Guillermo del Toro

----------------------

The sharpie should work OK on the T2 Ult tin.... but you'd have to protect it afterwards. I would think it would scuff off kinda easy.

I got Henry Winkler (sp) to sign my Water Boy DVD when I saw him do a play in Wash DC last year. He seemed very pleased actually and said how much fun it was to do that movie.

I got the first Star Trek 2 dvd signed by Kahn himself, he signed the insert card. I only wished I had a grillery with me as well at the time.

Asia Argento signed my Scarlet Diva DVD disc, cover and insert, then posed with me for a picture. What a sweetie, she's really cute in person and I'd shave her pits and light her cigarettes anyday.

Thora Birch I think you meant. Thanks for all the replies folks.

Any conjectures about sharpie working on the T2 tin? I know I read on one of these forums that someone had theirs signed, but I wasn't sure if it was the inside cover or the tin case.

I've got some movie signed by some guy. Wow, that's sad. It has a woman from Alley McBeal in it, it's a preview copy that showed up in the mail that way.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you my crappiest story ever!

Only Clerks, and that's from the View Askew stash, so I didn't get to see Kevin Smith do it in person. But the site says he actually signs them.

Sharpie should work just fine on the tin. Just make sure not to rub it against anything until it is set well.

I occasionally get asked to sign a DVD. It's kind of odd, because people suddenly come up to me in a public place and they have the DVD in hand. Do they carry it around in case they get the opportunity? Some questions are better left unanswered, so I just smile and sign.

For folks with signed DVD's - how did you get them? Did you pay for the signatures at media events or were there other venues where the actors were willing to sing them for free.

I ask because my work brings me through a large number of fan run conventions and in all of them, I have yet to meet an actor who was willing to sign something without charging for it. If anyone has any tips for getting signatures, I'd be interested in hearing them (as long as the person who started the thread doesn't mind).

Hawk: Well, the kind of conventions you happen to be at are the kind which celebs make money from sigs (usually people who've been...'out of the limelight' for a while who need the money). The other kind of convention are the kind where the actor's are compensated by whoever is sponsoring them. Or a promotional type event for the star's new project. For example- if someone is doing an appearance to hype their new movie it'd be kind of strange to have them charge you for autographs.

Anyway, on my Fellowship DVD, Mr. Mortensen was doing a signing for his new book, but I've gotten many many autographs and I've only ever paid for one (Brad Dourif)

I refuse to PAY for a signature... The reason I want it in the first place is because I enjoy that particular title - or I appreciate that person's work on that project. If I was asked to PAY for their scribble, then I'd just have to enjoy watching the disc. It's just a scribble after all...

For the two signatures I have, I met them in the line of work, so I guess the whole $$$ thing is kinda outta the question at that point - but because I knew I was going to be meeting with them, I chose a title of theirs that I really liked and brought it with me. Basically for me it's a neat way of saying thanks for doing such great wrk on this title I enjoy.
