I think the ones with Version 2.0 are fixed. My version 2.0 plays fine. Have you tried yours?

and my numbers are:

Halloween 15529
Halloween 5 05171/15000
Heathers 12391/15000 (I'm surprised this one's actually sold out)
Opera 15267/30000

I just tried it, and unless it's the layer change itself that spurs the problem, mine is okay. I guess AB printed an original issue of 3,000 and then when it had problems pulled it, but re-released some fixed versions before releasing the edition with 30,000.

Yes, I'm still amazed and still too lazy to look up and post my numbers.

I'm not sure if I understand your explanation for the "/3000" disc-covers, but the original version (the batch that had problems) did have a production of 30000. I bought one from half.com (saw it extraordinarly cheap and advertised as shrink wrapped/never opened, then later realized the reason for its cheap price)... and sure enough, it was a defective copy- but it definitely had the "/30000" numbering on it. That 3000 cover you have is a bit strange.... maybe Anchor Bay thought that they were recalling only 3000 defective copies, printed those covers, then later realized they had to do the whole frickin' thing again? Who knows...........

I tend to believe that the 3000 print of opera is the canadian version like the army of darkness canadian is numbered to 4000. I would be interested to know if these "canadian versions" are more sought after than the more predominant "us versions"? I am still trying to find time to do my tins list. I have them all except for heathers.

Not that this really matters, but The Stunt Man was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay, so it's not "just" a cult film, like a lot of the others.

good point, but does that really make it popular? I love the film but don't know anyone else who's familiar with it.

I have the tin as well for two lane blacktop...It is OOP as is the keepcase version. I get people looking for this one all the time. I would say it has a good cult following, just not a mainstream flick.

Also check out this thread for numbered titles...not a place to post your numbers, but a good resource when looking for titles.
