Very 1st "SteelBook" you owned?

i thought it would be fun to delve into what started some people's love affairs with these steelily designed DVD cases.

Mine was, i believe R2 "Flash Gordon" and thus began my infatuation with the steelie-eyed devils.

then "Dune" EE (however, this was the Viva brand and not actual SteelBook) so i am not sure it can be counted, a craptastic produced DVD, but in a steel case nonetheless.

but then legit 1st R1 would be "The Boondock Saints".

so, which one started it for you?

I believe Narnia was the first one I got.

I remember going to futureshop and the clerk had no idea what the case was, this was the first Futureshop exclusive I think. They had to go into the back to find the box. This was back when the steelbooks didn't come packaged with the DVD but was an extra handout at the cash register.

I am by no means on the same level as some of the members that post here, in regards to collecting steelbooks, but I think my first one was Death Proof. After that I got Planet Terror, I Am Legend, Dune, and Cloverfield. When I get some more money I am gonna try to get more, it's an expensive habit, to say the least, and I really enjoy seeing what everyone in this forum has in their own collections. I also picked up Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Die Hard With A Vengeance, and Live Free Or Die Hard at Best Buy, but I'm not sure when I got 'em.

"The Departed" was my first. I thought the design was absolutely incredible, especially in comparison to the regular 1- and 2-disc art, and loved how there were images printed inside the case as well. It's still my favorite Steelbook I own.

It started Die Hard & Die Hard 2. Had gotten it during the $5.99 (?) Circuit City price match.

I always loved SE packaging of all my dvds. I have other 'tins' or collectibles.

The rest was history...

Beowulf, Sweeney Todd, Die Hard 3, Xmen 1.5, Xmen 2, Bourne Ultimatum, Death Proof, Planet Terror, Cloverfield, Transformers (Autobots), Day After Tomorrow, Bee Movie, Fantastic 4: ROTSS, Live Free or Die Hard

On Order: Transformers (dual-side cover)

It would have been one of the early ones Futureshop gave out at the counter. If Narnia was the first one, it must have been The Little Mermaid for me..

Mine was either Flash Gordon (R2) or Total Recall (R2), both were gifts from a friend who later hooked me up with R2 steelbooks of Withnail and I and Highlander.
I've bought about 20 since then, mostly Fox Definitive Editions (R2). The only R1 steelbook I've gotten my hands on is the Robocop anniversary edition, which was mispriced at Cdwow, I paid $1 for it (with free shipping!)

Bourne Ultimatum. I went to BB to purchase the dvd, not even knowing about Steelbook and bought it. Then came Die Hard & I Am Legend, then Cloverfield.

Bourne Ultimatum. Then came Die Hard & Die Hard 2 which I got for $2.89 via PM to CC. And then others. Have around 10 steelbooks, most recent purchase is Man on Fire.

This is difficult. Hmm... I think it must have been Chronicles of Narnia. The earlier ones I have started collecting were Basic Instinct, Ong Bak, The Little Mermaid and Cars.

Band of Brothers, if that counts, otherwise Dune is the only one I have.

BoB is a tin box, not a SteelBook. "Dune" works though.
