Ill buy pretty much everything that comes out on steelbook, with the exception of the sports ones.

So today I was very lucky. I went to my local FYE and they had TWO of the Limited Edition Appleseed Steelbooks with the Bonus Figure. The regular price was $49.99, and then for some reason it was also on sale for $39.99. Add my FYE Card into the mix and I ended up paying 35 bucks for it, which doesn't seem too bad. I am a staunch believer in opening everything I have and enjoying it, as I have no intentions of ever re-selling anything.

I really like the steelbook, and I believe it was xage or scott that said this was the first one released in Region 1; if so, I am impressed with the overall quality of this first release. The figure is all pretty cool, although my only complaint is that he is a little loose-jointed and doesn't seem to hold the gun very well. Other than that, he is top notch. The plastic packaging sucks though, very hard to open and get into, although I managed to keep it intact using an exacto knife.

In any case, I was very surprised they had two of 'em in stock (and in good condition to boot...no dents to the steelbook, the figure wasn't loose and had no damage).

Heads up that Shrek the Third is now $16.99 CDN online and instore.. They've been sitting around at least 3 Futureshop in my area for ages.. Along with FF4, the two Grindhouse movies, PotC AWE, the Die Hards and more recently just the Autobot Protect steelbook (I haven't seen a Decepticon lately).. Are there dead stock in anyone elses FS that they wish they'll clear out at a cheaper price?

I would like to remind everyone that the "I Am Legend" Blu-ray SteelBook sold out within the first week. If the inventory level for Iron Man Blu-ray SteelBook is the same, I predict that it will sell out within the same time frame.

If it's the image holds until the final product, it seems to be a bilingual (Eng/Fr) R1 Canadian release like Beowulf.. I think I'll hold onto my FYE pre-order until final actually pics are posted..

Speaking of which, Beowulf and Bee Movie are $16.99 CDN on FS, but haven't seen Bee Movie instore for a while..

It would be very disappointing if that is the actual art, seeing as that's basically what the two-disc standard edition art looks like.

i concur. in that case, the 2-disk se and the steelbook would have the exact same artwork. meh.

Regardless....

I hope Iron Man breaks the barrier of "SIMILAR" Steelbook Cover Art between USA & CANADA...

But 99.99% seems they will have the same coverart..

A lot of times, the stock photo on websites are just that, stock photos. The actual cover art, may still be in the works.

From both links above: Note: Image may not be exactly as shown.

I dont know if to blame here is Scanovo or the Studios (mainly - Fox, Universal, WB, Paramount) for being lazy and would just use same steelbook art/mold template.. but it seems that its an ongoing continuation of "SIMILAR" artworks of Steelbooks for the so called "Exclusives" between USA's Bestbuy/T.W.E.C. and Canada's Futureshop. The minor differences were just bonus DVDs that comes inside, the Store's stickers or the papers with dvd info & upc attached at the back of each steelbooks.

Take a look at Disney.. atleast they are consistent to provide their "steelbook exclusives" in Canada.

xage, the problem is with the studios.

Scanavo can only manufacture, what ever cover art, that the studio approves. There may also be other factors involved that we are not aware of.

frankly, i am glad they are the same or similar. it prevents my urgency to have both! likely the German SB will get my money as that looks to be the best of the bunch and really the one that it should be.

Actually thats one positive side of having similar design between US & Canada.
