IMO,

300 is the only title that will command a premium. Today, I would say 15-20% over retail price. I have seen a lot of these on evilBay over the past six months and the prices are trending downwards. Most serious collectors already have this title, so any price uptick is diminishing.

I have personally seen one serious collector, dump his entire collection after months of buying up evertything that was available. You have to be liquid, in order to play with the big boys.

The Grudge 2 and The Boondock Saints are both OOP but they can still be picked up very cheap if you know where to look. I recently picked up two copies of The Grudge 2 for $8.00 each (new & sealed). Someone was trying to sell a used copy of the Grudge 2 for $25.00 on evilBay but I knew that it would not sell. He was asking too much. This is the same seller that sold a bogus Cars TIN as a SteelBook to a newbie in the US. This seller also stole someone elses photo for his lisitng.

Everything else in your photo are pretty common titles. IMO, I would say $15.00-$20.00 each, depending on the title and the number of discs.

Good luck to you.

You don't have to limit your collection to R1, as I have been told that Blu-ray is generally all region now.

I'll post pictures of all the HD / Blu-ray Steelbooks that I have, as soon as I get a chance.

thank you, one reason i supported hd dvd was region free, if the blu ray goes that way, i'll look for more. anyone with an inn know why there has been only one r1 steelbook? they seem to sell very well

I saw your auction on Ebay, I believe you had it for like $585 buy it now, which really isn't that bad as you have 29 dvds and that equals out to about $20 a piece. Its gone now though did you manage to sell the entire lot. I agree with Howwon not a lot of true rarities in the collection but still a nice collection.

Has anyone else had trouble with Amazon in purchasing steelbooks lately. I am trying to finish up my US release steelbook collection (with a few exceptions I don't want any of the animes or that crappy Dane Cook). I recently tried to buy Cast Away off of Amazon off of two different sellers and have ended up with refunds both times and no steelbooks. The first time the seller emailed me and told me the item came back damaged from the post office like 2 days after i paid for it and he returned my money. the second time I got zero communication from the seller but saw a amazon refund like 2 weeks after I bought the dvd (I am leaving him a negative transaction rating because the least he could do is email me). I still want the dvd but now am I sick and tired of Amazon sellers and am thinking of just ordering it through amazon and paying the extra money.

The two steelbooks I would kill for are V for Vendetta and X-men 3, bur I am just not willing to pay more than $40 for them because they would both be double dips and I just don't feel like getting raped that much over retail for them so I doubt I will ever get either of them.

As far as Canadian releases go, almost every one would be a double dip so I don't think I will add to many of them (I want Bee Movie because it would be one of the few that would not be a double dip). The highest I have paid was $37 for a Sweeney Todd with shipping. I also forked out about $30 for a Beowulf in a trade with shipping and just recently bought a Dune for $27.

My collection

Yea I found it on there again, I mean its a fairly reasonable price but its for a large lot which means most collectors will have a good number of what you have so unless they are going to try and turn around and just resell there is no real reason to bid. You would have done better selling them piece meal even if its more of a hassle.

At $20 a pop some of those if you tried to resell you might find hard to recuperate your money.

the only thing about splitting them up is not selling them all, i just dont want to sell all but a handful of them

I have no allusions that my collection will likely ever have a V for Vendetta nor and X3 because I know I am not willing to spend outrageous prices for them and am not going to be lucky hitting pawn shops or the like because the Canadian border is hundreds and hundreds of miles away (mexico is much closer).

I mean I could justify maybe $50 to myself but thats it considering I already own the dvds and all I am upgrading is the packaging (with the V I would not even resell my copy as I bought the really cool Best Buy set with the mini Guy Fawkes mask for $30).

Gotta draw the line somwhere, I have already seen myself double dip on Platoon (upgraded from the one disk to the two disk), Day After Tomorrow (upgraded from the one disk to the two disk), Robocop (upgraded from the one disk to the two disk), Man on Fire (upgraded from the one disk to the two disk), X-men 1.5 (upgraded from the one disk to the two disk although I kept my one disk because it was the first dvd I ever owned), X-men 2, Boondock saints (upgraded from the one disk to the two disk), and the first 3 Die Hards. That means I have double dipped on 10 steelbooks already which is kind of insane so I can't see myself going all crazy for one of the rarer steelbooks and dropping a fortune to get one. Cast Away would have been a double dip too.

As it has been announced during AX 2008, FUNimation will handle the distribution on select Geneon licenses. Of which, Hellsing Ultimate will be released once more. Volumes 1-4 in regular and limited editions will be released on 9/16/2008. No additional information has been released for Vol.4 yet.

If this turnout to be another steelbook then it would be the first re-released double dip steelbook in North America

At the moment there isn't enough solid information. If they are steelbooks, I don't expect any changes.

RightStuf.com has listed Hellsing Ultimate, Vol.1 - 4, but there were no LEs. Another site mentioned that they were supposed to be LEs.

Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage has a LE for Vol.1. There is no word of whether this will be a steelbook release yet. This was originally scheduled to get a steelbook release to house the second season.

I would expect more information to come out in the upcoming weeks.

Great news! I ordered volumes 1-3 last week and received 1 & 2 yesterday. I just watched volume 1 and really enjoyed it. Glad to will be able to finish this collection.
