Only one i have is V for Vendetta and its allright.Im not an extras or special edition kinda guy so im usually just looking for the movie itself.Recently i bought Planet Terror and the steel book was $3 more than the regular one so went non steel on that but if it had been the same price i might have bought it over the regular cased one.

I have a few. They're just a nice alternative to the standard DVD cases. They're far and few between so it's a nice treat when they come out.

just add "Ocean's Thirteen" and "Live Free or Die Hard" which i will have by Tuesday and i am at 28. "Pan's" and "12 Monkeys" were made R1 by inserting the dvds from the standard case.
i just like the way they feel on my skin

It's only a big deal if you think they are totally cool to own. They are probably a better case choice to the regular Amaray DVD case for protection, but they still just house DVD's. So it's all about the collector and his/her tastes in DVD cases, it's a DVD collector thing. Even for a few bucks more always buy the Steelbook edtions, they will protect the DVD's better.

There was nothing rude in my original post, but to answer your question, yes, I can be a lot more rude.

To answer your original question, Steelbooks are unique, limited edition packaging that usually has better artwork than their standard counterparts. They are also durable, and unlike most special packaging, are the same size and shape as standard keepcases, so they fit in with standard cases without a problem.

It seems to me sometimes the covers are nicer, plus from a collector's point of view they are interesting to own.

I only have:

Planet Terror
Robocop
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

I plan on getting Live Free or Die Hard on Tuesday.

I only have 3. They're movies I really like, so I spent the extra few bucks on the nice packaging. I don't see a problem with people wanting to collect them though.

The hard steel case makes up for the lack of strength and power of various DVD collectors.

I have more than 100 now and I love the feel of cold steel against my skin The only grumble I have is that they scratch and dent easily so you must really protect them well. I'm still missing the X-Men 3 Futureshop steelbook!!! Can anyone help???

I'm not into them, but I am glad for their success. It shows that many people care about more than just the content, which means physical media isn't giving way to downloads any time soon.

You want pics of him sleeping with his collection (his "cold steel against my skin" comment)? That's just sick Scott.
