Now that they are more popular and released in the US as well they are a lot easier to find. Even some of the ones that never made it to the US aren't rare at all, my local FutureShop has about 40 copies of Spiderman 3 in stock, so I always laugh when I see them on eBay for like $60.

Lets not forget that sold out at Future Shop does not always mean sold out. Does anyone remember when their online store brought in almost 200 copies of the Superman Returns Steelbook, during the Boxing Day sale and slashed the price to $9.99 for almost a week.

Sellers on eBay were asking up to $60.00 for a new copy and up to $50.00 for used copy. It is still available online for $29.99

I have never had a problem in getting a US exclusive Steelbook at a fairly reasonable price. The trick is to stay calm and wait for the dust to clear. A few weeks after release day, people who bought extra copies are now dumping them on eBay.

I think that the I Am Legend Blu-ray Steelbook will be harder to find in a few months but not difficult by any means. Three of the four stores in my city is still showing stock.

YMMV

a few PRICE change notes...

I noticed at Best Buy that ALL of the FOX steelbooks have been dropped to 14.99 each, so now is a great time to grab em before they are gone. This includes ALL of their Die Hard exclusive's, including Live Free or Die Hard. Additionally, Bourne Ultimatum was also re-stickered to 14.99 as well.
For Canadian, it's a better deal at some HMV where they added more Fox steelbooks, YMMV, for $12.50 in the 2/$25 section.. Of course, they won't carry any of the exclusives that BestBuy US has..

Personally, I won't get my rewardzone points.. The US one is much more generous than the Canadian to get your $5 rz certificate (250 vs 400 points)..
Later

Bogus Cars Steelbook Warning

Someone on eBay is trying to pass off a Cars TIN as a Steelbook.

A true Cars Steelbook is all red without any silver border.

Still, a bit on the high side.
Seller must be starving. He is now accepting Best Offer and dramatically reduced his shipping charges by 30-50%.

Wow this cloverfield case looks awesome

IGN Link to cover art

Can't wait. The "crushed" case could really be sweet.

I hope that's the steelbook and not the slipcover. Does anyone know for sure what the Sweeney Todd steelbook will look like?

According to IGN, that is the Cloverfield steelbook case. Looks tight.

And has any sweeney steelbook art been verified? I can only hope it's the Czech art....

The spine doesn't look like a Steelbook spine, but that picture that doesn't include the spine DEFINITELY looks like a Steelbook. We'll see.

And no, there hasn't been a confirmed "Sweeney Todd" cover yet, so I'm PRAYING that we will see the one posted with the bloody knife here in the U.S. .

Actually, the news release called it a steel-book. It could just be a typo.

I believe Transworld stores, i.e. FYE, suncoast etc. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though. Really makes things difficult for me though, since I'm not near one without driving about an hour.

Question: Of the die hard steelbooks, is there a difference in the colored version to the black and white, or grayscale, one? Is one more rare than the other?

Ah. Thanks. I need to use the search function more often.

EDIT: Tried searching this question, couldn't find anything. Does anybody have any info on cleaning a steelbook? My Die Hard steelbook has some sticker residue on it, and I was just curious as to technique on cleaning it, for it's obviously different than the regular plastic surface.
