Hi there,

I just found this thread because I was trying to find a picture of the History of Trunks/Bardock DBZ pack. I can't seem to find it. Has it been released yet? Is it in a steelbook case?

Also, what's the deal with the X-Men Last Stand steelbook? I bought one at Future Shop a long time ago and it looks really cool. It came with a mini trade paperback too. Is it really rare? I honestly don't care about the packaging, should I sell it?

You can sell it to me. I'll give you $20.

btw, I resolved my Sweeney Todd issue. I guess saying steelbook exclusive 5 times doesn't mean anything to some employees.

I lost my receit for my pre-order of Sweeney Todd Steelbook, Do SunCoast (TransWorld Store) still honor my order if I provide my phone number? (I did put $5 down and provided my phone number when they scanned it)

thats a tough call. i would think that, since they write your name and telephone # on that reservation piece of paper, as well as tape that paper to the actual dvd, you should be ok in terms of having it reserved for you. as far as getting that $5 deposit credited to your purchase, you might have to be extra nice to the store manager

just fyi guys, theres an fye thread in the bargains forum that might be better suited for questions re twec stores. it seems a few very knowledgeable fye managers and ex-managers frequent it:

f.y.e weekly New Releases pricing (often with MIR) and more deals

Woah, hold up. I saw Applessed Steelbooks at Borders as well. Also, amazon.com has em up for sale, too. The STEELBOOK isn't rare or exclusive, its what BB and FYE sell WITH it that makes it exclusive. The Steelbook is VERY common.

Also, RE: Dune...all replenishments, in every store in the US, for the original Dune 2 disc in the VIVA package will be replaced with a STEELBOOK. You will slowly start to see these everywhere.

I did the same thing. The clerk wrote steelbook on mine. He said he would make sure that he ordered several steelbooks.

bought 9 steelbooks today...ugh!

a few PRICE change notes...

I noticed at Best Buy that ALL of the FOX steelbooks have been dropped to 14.99 each, so now is a great time to grab em before they are gone. This includes ALL of their Die Hard exclusive's, including Live Free or Die Hard. Additionally, Bourne Ultimatum was also re-stickered to 14.99 as well.

Also, if anyone saw the Circuit City flyer this week, there is a page of $3.99 DVD's. Two of these dvd's are Die Hard and Die Hard 2. The pictures shown are of the repackaged versions, that are IDENTICAL to Best Buy's Exclusive Steelbook versions. I brought the CC flyer in to Best Buy and got 2 of Each Steelbook at Best Buy for 3.99 each, so if you have a Circuit City flyer, you may want to give it a shot, you really can't beat $4 for an exclusive Steelbook.

Also worth noting is that today was the first day that the Best Buy near me actually had Appleseed Steelbooks WITH the previously absent manga comic from last week. So I guess the shipments were just delayed a bit.

Random OT, but does anyone know TWEC's phone number? (specifically FYE if they have separate #s). The Contact Us is one of those fill-ins and we'll contact you back, and the only phone # I found is like the vice presidents'. Thanks.

I don't know how "rare" this is, seeing as how there were like 20 or more at my Best Buy, all with comics, and I took the one I bought last week without the manga for the one with, and it rang up for last week's sale price at $22.99. You can also get the magazine sent to you by calling the 800 number that was posted at some Best Buys last week and someone provided in another thread here on dvdtalk. The only thing rare here though really is the comic that BB is packaging with it. The Steelbook is available elsewhere. I also noticed that the one with the comic has a different UPC #.

Photos of the two versions, side-by-side. Photos of the inside have already been posted, elsewhere in this forum

Battlestar Galactica Season 3

They did an exceptional job on the cover and can be compared to the X-Men 3 Steelbook. The case is massive and weighs almost 0.300 Kg.

Yes, the Battlestar steelbook is really heavy! Feels very beefy indeed.

Btw, nice pics howwon.

Popped-by my nearest FS tonight to grab BSG Season 3. That steelbook is an engineering marvel -- and it still has the normal size and thickness too. It's just quite heavy as already noted. No paper inserts inside at all (but it has really nice photo-art under the plastic holders) and the outer paper/specs/episode list doesn't seem like it could fit inside. Price was $44.99.

Saw that the Bee Movie steelbook was down to $22.99 so I grabbed one. 2 disks inside with nothing else. Outer specs/paper fits inside, which is cool. Too bad about the French/English text, but that's what we get 90% of the time here.

They still had lots of I Am Legend (BR + DVD), Beowulf, Bee Movie and even Ratatooie and POTC3.

i am in contact with the head of marketing for NA at Scanvo. really cool guy. he sends me some nice e-mails, one about the packaging of "SteelBooks" and how they are environmentally friendly. i will post some snippets when i get home. he's also thanked me for starting this thread and thanks all of you for the great interest. he also mentioned sending some samples my way. yay!!

he also mentioned that they only have one "X3" SteelBook in the office and that everyone wants it. i thought that was kinda funny given it is their company. guess that really is the rarest of them all.

he says his reps even use this thread in presentations!!

bl, i think we will see more and more "SteelBooks" in SD and HD on the horizon!
This is excellent news! Be sure to post pics of the "samples" when they arrive!

For those that have the blu-ray I Am Legend steelbook, do your case feel a little bit flimsy compared to the regular DVD steelbook? It seems that my copy, it's not as sturdy as my other DVD steelbooks.

Though the content of the new Ex Machina is a bit better than the previous one, The Geneon Limited Edition Set is still far better than the WB's/Bestbuy Limited Edition

The first Cloverfield Steelbook has been listed and the seller is very optimistic about his selling price. His shipping charges are also heavily inflated. $9.99 shipping to the US and $19.99 shipping to Canada.

A clear example of a eBay fee avoidance violation.

Yeah, But It Now for $44.99? Wow. At least he does say that it is actually a pre-order, and the dvd doesn't come out until April 22 and the winner's item will not ship until 4/22. Still, ridiculous....

Hmm, interesting. The seller dropped his BIN price to $39.99.

Still, a bit on the high side.

So when I went in to order my cloverfield steelbook today, I happened to see that they had a ton of beowulf steelbooks. I counted a total of 50 in three different areas around the store. I asked the manager about it and he said that some of their steelbooks are limited and others are not. He said the sweeney todd would be limited but cloverfield is not. I don't know if I fully believe he knows so I ordered it anyways.

btw, they had Dragon Wars for $14.99. I contemplated picking it up but I heard it's horrible and I don't really want a movie that I'll hate just for the steelbook. But heads up to anyone who wants it for that price.

I don't think any of the steelbooks will be very limited anymore, especially not as limited as some of the early ones. Those ones you see on ebay selling for ridiculous prices were the ones released only in Canada at FutureShop in very small quantities. Now that they are more popular and released in the US as well they are a lot easier to find. Even some of the ones that never made it to the US aren't rare at all, my local FutureShop has about 40 copies of Spiderman 3 in stock, so I always laugh when I see them on eBay for like $60.
