Is this true? Is Double Indemnity getting rereleased?
I never saw an announcement, but most of the websites show it coming out July 6 (which is even a Tuesday). Is this true, or the same mistake perpetuated over multiple sites? I'm just surprised, with all the people who ask about this title, I never saw an announcement here.
Here's a few:

It was announced a while ago, but then Universal took it off their web site. I haven't heard anything 'official' about a delay/cancellation, but I don't think it's actually coming out...

Oh yeah, that's right. That's what I get for only searching a month.
Here's the thread about it being cancelled--now I remember seeing that, just put it out of my mind (oh the pain):

Universal is just releasing a few individual film noir titles (Criss Cross, Black Angel, Big Clock, This Gun For Hire).
Double Indemnity was supposed to come out at the same time, but now it isn't.

*hugs his $4 bootleg eBay edition* But honestly if you're thinking of getting the imports on eBay, don't. It's by far the worst image quality I've ever seen. The motion all trails so much that the scenes sometimes just become big blurs in some cases. I'm still sore they cancelled the re-release, although it did cause quite a few people to sell the OOP disc for much lower prices.

Just to confirm:
I ordered D.I. at DDD last week because it was still showing as available (and coming out on 7/6) on their site, they just sent me an email cancelling it from my order. Anyone have any further info?

DVDTalk still has this on their coming soon list to be released on 6/13. And the link shows it on Amazon.com. But I can't find it anywhere else. What's the deal?

Something weird at Amazon; I just checked and they, at last, had the Universal disc as a 'future release'. I closed the page, went back and now I can't find that but there's a shifty July 13 release from 'Monarch Home Video' - I hope people aren't conned into buying a sub-standard PD release...

It looks like DVD Empire is still listing "This Gun for Hire" though.

I have all four of the first wave of the Universal Noir Collection series; transfers vary with This Gun for Hire and Criss Cross being the best, Black Angel and the brilliant The Big Clock being the worst (dark, very grainy, shimmering; not a disaster, but could have been better). I'm just glad to have 'em at all; I've got a sneaky feeling that either Universal have pulled Double Iindemnity to give it a better release (This Gun For Hire doesn't even have a trailer), or, as rumour has it, licensed it out to Criterion...

In the second, Jon Mulvaney can be very clever in his phrasing ("at this time" may be true on a Monday, but false on the following Wednesday). As a student of Mulvaney-speak, I have never known him to lie outright, but most of his responses have built-in deniability should circumstances change down the road.
I would like nothing better than a Criterion release of this seminal film noir, but it doesn't appear to be on Criterion's current production schedule.

Agree with FilmFanSea. Mulvaney's usually pretty direct in his responses, i.e. "Criterion does not have the rights to...."
"No plans at this time" sounds a bit more promising, especially given Universal and Criterion's past working relationship.
Here's hoping!
