Overstock has these for 27.98 but I'm hoping members will keep their eyes peeled for the famous RITE-AID $19.99 SALES on these Megapacks and update the thread accordingly.

Well, that right there alone would be worth the 20 bucks! Everthing after that would be pure gravy.

Of course anyone looking for just Metropolis, should really seek out the restored version. This one may be nigh-unwatchable.

The quality of the movies varies. The DVDs are flippers with movies on each side, in a cardboard sleeve with story synopsis.

I can report that the quality varies (which is why I strongly urge people to wait for a 19.99 deal on these sets, to allow for those few bad eggs). I've seen (let me see) 3 and the only one that had what I would consider serious issues was the LONG JOHN SILVER one:

For the first approximately 15 minutes of the movie the vocals were not in synch with the video and the effect, I have to confess, was hilarious because they were off by just enough miliseconds that the effect was like Japanese monster movies with dubbing — think "Mothra" with English voiceovers. In fact, we had more fun watching that part of the movie than the rest of it, to be shamelessly honest heh.

The other two we watched were as good as you might see on your TV, some crackling during the first few minutes but then seamless B&W for the feature.

Yeah, c'mon RITE-AID c'mon RITE-AID. Everybody do the RITE-AID dance.

Your next MEGAPACK might be FREE! Click here for an Rx Transfer offer from RITE-AID but act quickly, it's good through MARCH 26. Definitely YMMV but give it a shot . . .

They e-mail me with these periodically. A bit more expensive, but has some info.

Since I wouldn't pay more than $20 for one of these, the dvdmegapacks site is a No Go for me, especially since shipping is added. I'm content to wait for Rite-Aid to get in the Mystery pack and offer it for $19.99 — which will be $1.64 after I apply the $20.00 Gift Card I just got for transferring a prescription. And if not . . . that's fine too. The two I have right now (FAMILY and HORROR) were must-haves; any others are optional.

I also think that Treeline Films' packaging model is one that we can expect to see replicated with other vendors (although I'm very pleased with Treeline's). The price of DVDs is going nowhere but down and the concept of bundling movies is a wildly popular one, especially for these older films. What I particularly like about the Treeline sleeves are the short plot descriptions printed on each side. Very helpful.
