Which directors would you like to see next on the 'Directors Label'?
So we've seen Spike Jonze, Chris Cunningham, and Michel Gondry and their work on DVD from Palm Pictures (and I must say they are some badass packed DVD's, some of my tops for the year).
So who would you like to see next? The website says there's plans for more directors to hit in 2004...one can only wonder. I'd love to see one for Tarantino, but besides his movies, I don't know that he's done shorts or commercials. Same with Kevin Smith. Who knows...maybe a Guy Ritchie one? Or a Coen Bros.? Maybe a Bryan Singer? Sam Raimi? Palm Pictures Directors Label |

Just to clarify so this thread doesn't fill with inappropriate directors...
This DVD series focuses on music videos, short films, commercials, and other brick-a-brack. So it isn't applicable for directors that do mainly features. |

Tim Burton has done commercials and shorts. So has Tony Scott. Im not so sure about Terry Gilliam but he must have something.

I love the Coen Bros. movies, but I don't know if they do shorts/commercials, etc. I really hope not to see a Tim Burton one.
Good thread idea, I was wondering if there were going to be anymore of these |

Michael Bay. I know most people despise him, but his music videos and commercials were cool.

Anton Corbijn - I'm a big Depeche Mode fan so slightly biased but would love to see some of the videos of DM get a commentary, also as a proflic photographer i think there would be various other features as well as his videos for U2, Joy Division, RHCP.
Stephane Sednaoui - Videos for Depeche Mode, Massive Attack,U2,Alanis Morissette i recall off the top of my head. others i'd be intertested in: David Fincher Mark Romanek |

I know the next series will include Mark Romanek.
I'd love to see a Michael Bay and David Fincher sets. I'm in for a Nigel Dick set too, but that would be a shitload of music videos (what has he done, 100 videos so far?).

David Lynch. I've only seen a handful of his commercials such as the PS2 spot which I really liked.
I also really liked Tim Burton's watch commercials from a few years back. I'm always interested in any project he creates. |

I'd like to see one for Jonas Åkerlund...he's done some cool videos for The Smashing Pumpkins.

Romanis, Akerlund and Fincher are my top 3.
They seem pretty likely too. I agree, the directors label thing was fantastic. well packed, beautifully designed, lovely book, great price. |

My vote goes to
A more extensive set on Hype Williams. The first one really didn't do his talents justice. It was way too short!!! and Paul Hunter. Their music video and commercial spots are some of the best all-time. Last edited by taxidriver6; 01-15-04 at 02:45 PM. |

Michael Bay directed videos for Donny Osmond, Vanilla Ice, Wilson Phillips, Richard Marx, Styx, and Winger. I'm just sayin'...

I'd really like to see a Hal Hartley "directors" package. He's got a bunch of shorts and music videos that aren't collected that fans haven't been able to see, and I think he has a very distinctive and individual style.

Mark Romanek is my first choice, so I'm glad he'll be in the next set. I hear that Jonathan Glazer is close to being finalized for the second set as well.
I'd also like to see David Fincher, Godley & Creme, Morton & Jankel, Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Jonas Akerland, Francis Lawrence, Stephane Sedanoui and the infamous Tony Kaye. |

Bay did that AWESOME "Aaron Burr" Milk commercial along with the Baby one and the Vending Machine one. He did a really cool "alpha project" series of Nike commercials, the music video to "I Touch Myself," "Days of Thunder," an Aerosmith video, several really cool car and Levi's commercials. Directed various music videos including Meat Loaf's "Rock n Roll Dreams", Tina Turner's "Love Thing", Chicago's "Chasin' the Wind", Colin James' "Keep on Lovin' Me Baby", Lionel Ritchie's "Do it to Me", Donnie Osmond's "Sacred Emotion", Richard Marx's "Angelia", Dana King's "Shy Guy" and Great White's "Call it Rock n Roll". (Thanks to IMDB) How could you oppose that? |

Ridley Scott. According to the Alien 20th Anniversary insert, he did around 3,000 commericals before he got into feature film directing.
Perhaps they could put something together from that body of work. Oh, and David LaChapelle. Nothing like watching pop stars act out teenaged fantasies.

Would Tim Burton's series of watch commercials fill a DVD? Would a DVD with the H&R Block and Gap commercials the Coens did be worth it? I didn't think so.
