Finally received Dead Zone 'Unaired' Pilot DVD

Today, Saturday, August 30, 2003, I finally received the long-awaited unaired pilot dvd from Lions Gate Entertainment. So, those who are waiting for this, look out for it soon. It comes via USPS in a small yellow bubble wrap envelope and inside it comes in a paper and plastic sleeve. I actually got the soundtrack CD as well which comes in a regular jewel case so maybe for those only getting the pilot the package will be different.

I'll post here again with comments on the differences between the two pilots and what extras the disc has after I've had a chance to watch it.

I've debated and debated on sending in for this , but wasn't sure if I wanted it. Is it worth it or not? Please, let me know.

I haven't gotten around to buying the set yet, but I was wondering if the mailaway for the free unaired pilot DVD has an expiration date that anyone knows of?

If there is one, I might have to forego some other purchases and make sure I get this one instead.

Some info: one has to purchase the set by no later than 9/20/03 and mail it in by 10/20/03.

It's definitely worth the price of admission. You get the original 84 minute unaired pilot that has quite a few different scenes. Most obviously with Michael Moriarity as Reverend Gene Purdy instead of David Ogden Stiers. A different, tall, blonde actress playing reporter Dana Bright. I think Moriarity is much better as Purdy. He's definitely creepier. However, I like the redhead that currently plays Dana over the original.

The disc contains some extras as well. It has yet another audio commentary, this time with Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller. There are also several promos for Season 2. Some easter eggs including trailers for Dead Zone & Rose Red. 10 minutes of deleted scenes with timecode including some footage that was re-shot different ways or in different locations. There is even some stuff that appears nowhere else. All shot by another director.

The deleted scenes have an optional audio commentary as well.

The score for this pilot is also done by someone else.

I got mine on Saturday as well. Now where are those "free" DVDs I sent off for from MGM?

They did the same thing to me. I've sent them two e-mails, but no response.

How long after the promotion ended did you contact them?

I just bought Season 1 and Season 2 and would be interested in getting the disc.
