Ivan's Childhood by Tarkovsky Is Out?

I just stumbled across this, but it looks like www.rbcmp3.com is selling Ruscico's version of Ivan's Childhood (NTSC, Region 0). I didn't even hear it was out. It's number 25 in their 100 top selling releases, so I assume they're shipping it?

FWIW, nostalghia.com recommends waiting for the forthcoming Criterion release using a better master. The problem with that is that Criterion's Jon Mulvaney has said as recently as May (with regard to Ivan's Childhood): "I wouldn't rule it out for 2004, but I wouldn't count on it, either."

Oh, I'm sure the Criterion will wipe up the floor with the Ruscico disc. But the Ruscico may be the best on the market till that time.

Wonder if the Ruscico is an improvement over the R2 AE disc...

Well, for $19.99 + free shipping it might be worth taking a chance on.

I suspect it's a PAL-->NTSC transfer of the same version that's out on AE. DVD Beaver did a recent comparison of the AE vs. Spectrum (Korea), & they used identical transfers from Ruscico. I'm sure they'll compare those with the NTSC once they get their hands on it.
