Animatrix with the patch (of doom)
I just picked up a copy of The Animatrix from Best Buy and it came with a silly little patch that looks like the cover of the case (not the kind that helps you quit smoking, mind you). Well, I got it home and opened it up and the patch fell off and left a gooey kind of residue on the case. I managed to get some of it off with a damp cloth, but there's still a lot on there. Any suggestions of how to get the rest of this off?

BTW, the gooey stuff with the patch is just that booger-like rubber cement they often use. It's usually not a problem to just peel it off, and most (if not all) of the goo was on the security sticker on mine.

Yup, it'll just rub off cleanly. It's the gummy stuff. *DON'T* use lighter fluid, etc. That WILL kill the cardboard case! (This isn't rocket science, y'know.)

Boiling works but I found that putting it in a pressure cooker is best.

No visibly obvious patch residue on mine, however, am I the only one who has a difficult time removing the cd/dvd case when they are both in at the same time? Perhaps its a bit of patch residue inside the slipcase thingy....hmm....
Once I got the patch out, I put inside that little...umm...filler spot that's beneath where you put the cd inside of...it opens up, and I stuck the patch in there.

WD-40 is fine to use on a cardboard snapper, as long as you spray only a small amount onto a cloth and not directly on the case.
Rubbing alcohol also works well for removing sticky residue, but DO NOT use it on a snapper! It takes the ink right off like nothing.

What the hell is the deal with the patch? What will they think of next....!!!
I got the sticky residue stickyness too.. I just wanted the movie, not some crap ruining my snapper case... Time to write and complain.

My patch came off no problem. I actually didn't even know about the patch until I saw this thread. Left a little gunk and it came right up and left no residue.
Pretty ugly patch, not nearly as cool as the one that came with the Hellsing disc.
