I just thought that I'd bump this up since the DVD was just released. I highly recommend it. The transfer (though not quite as good as "Vertigo") is very good (and anamorphic, if you care about that). Lots of extras, the best among them being a lengthy and quite interesting documentary on the film and Tippi Hedren's screen tests.

watched it tonite. pretty clean transfer for a flick released in 1963. mono sound but it still sounded pretty good. lots of extras although i did not get a chance to watch them yet. i thought that it might be cheesy since i have not seen The Birds since i was a kid but i was honestly blown away at how realistic most of the effects still looked. definitely let your kid watch it to freak him out.

There is no greater joy in life than freaking out your kids.

Got my copy, but haven't had a chance to watch it. I was somewhat suprised though that www.thebigpicture.com was rather critical of the transfer, guess I'll know if they are right when I pop it in.

A fantastic disc of a fantastic film. Was waiting for this for two years. The print has flaws but the transfer is wonderful. If you love the film don't give it a second thought.
