Wow! Why was this movie ignored at the theaters? I just bought the DVD at Target for $12.99 and watched it yesterday. I thought it was a very good movie. It had a few slow moments, but it ended very well. The best way I thought to describe the movie was "kick ass". Anybody else like this movie?

Cat,
Be sure to listen to the commenary, it gives the film a whole new dimension - like Kurt Russell had a broken ancle through out the WHOLE film. The screenwriter also wrote unforgiven. The Director did Mortal Combat and Event Horizon and tons more info.

My opinion of the movie was different. I thought the plot was very weak, too boilerplate for my taste. However DVD quality was very nice. Nice colors - very vivid and well separated, pretty good sound. In general it might be worth a rental, but I would only recommend buying to the hardcore action fans.

It was my wifes turn to pick which movie to
go see. She wanted to see Soldier and I
wanted Negotiator. Well, as those of you
that are married know, wives always win!
We saw Soldier and I was very pleased with
it. I am a K. Russell fan, but I was really
brought into the world that the filmmakers
created here. It's a really fun movie on
one level, and on another you could read some
pretty deep messages there.
I did buy this one when it came out and have
watched it 3 times so far. Still haven't
listened to the commentary but looking
forward to it!

The plot was predictable with a capital P, but (and it's a really big but) I loved it anyway!
I was really intrigued by the way Kurt was able emote without words, and have nothing but respect for his dedication to his craft to have suffered through everything he did for this film. Not to mention how much work went in to getting as buff as he did (which I'm sure Goldie enjoyed immensely!)
The quality of the DVD itself took a good movie and made it great. I bought it and am damn glad I did. This one's a "keeper" for me, YMMV.

jasonbird,
Don't pass up Negotiator. I rented this movie on the recommendation of my bro.-in-law and loved it. Samuel Jackson and Kevin Spacey were terrific!
Not only that, but my wife liked it so much, that when I tried to loan it to my dad (I ended up buying it after the rental) she took it from me and said he couldn't have it because, "this is MY movie." (She's a Kevin Spacey fan.)
Hope you like it too.

Blade,
I finally DID see Negotiator, I rented
it the first day it came out and as soon as
the credits started rolling, I got on the
internet and bought it! I also loved it!
I thought there was supposed to be a
commentary on the disc with Spacy and Jackson?
Oh well, Teriffic movie anyway
