DVD Talk review of 'Da' Booty Shop'

I read Tyler Foster's DVD review of Da' Booty Shop at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=37263 and...

I couldn't agree more. I counted 28 'OKAY!!'s in the first 30 minutes of the film. After that, I didn't bother.

The film clearly has no substance, so the only selling point was for the eye candy, and with the exception of the lead, none of the 'supporting cast' of strippers are attractive. I don't know which is worse, their acting or how they were presented.

No, I'm not expecting Hollywood, but there are plenty of beautiful girls who can't act off the street to cast in such a film. Particularly the one girl who keeps saying 'up in here girl!'.

Odd that there is no actual stripping in this movie. I only saw this movie to see Trina McGee, who seemed to wear a different outfit in every scene. But what can I say, she still looks great. Almost 40 with 3 kids! Her acting was alright, what can you really say with a 'script' like that, really?

The scenes where they were supposed to be "doing hair" made absolutely no sense. I didn't see any difference. At one point, a woman is tending to the hair of a lady who's hair is already done. Really, was it so hard to have her seen braiding a few strands or two?

I decided that if you watch this movie as a parody, you might just enjoy it better. That said, minor quip, but do you really have to say 'African American'? Its okay, you can say 'Black'. Not all Black people are African American. (In fact, the lead actress is Haitian). Sorry, just something that bothers me when I see it.

Anyway, good review
