DVDTalk review: "Pineapple Express"????????

I'm going to go ahead and ask the question that I'm sure others have asked but I can't find any threads on it: Where is the DVDTalk review of Pineapple Express, particularly the two disc unrated edition? Is there some reason they haven't reviewed it yet? I mean it's been out almost two weeks, what's the deal? If nothing can someone link me to a reliable review of the DVD of Pineapple Express?

They're too busy with reviews of Without a Paddle: Nature's Calling...

Sony didn't send us a copy to review on DVD or Blu-ray.

It is totally BS they didn't send you anything, but wouldn't you guys write a review after the release date. One of the reviewers had to have bought or rented it. But then again if I were a reviewer and got free DVD's all the time I might be spoiled and not want to buy it

I don't know; if I got free DVDs and/or Blu-rays all the time, I think I'd be more likely to purchase a particular title that I wouldn't be getting for free. I think it'd be easier to justify since you're saving money by getting some of the titles you want for free.

I'm sure a lot of us bought it (I know I did!), but reviewing is a pretty time-consuming process, and with so many titles we have been sent that need to be reviewed, it's tough to find the time to review something on my own. I only have time to review so much stuff, and I'd rather put that towards cleaning out DVD Talk's review backlog.

It's not "I'll only do it if you send me a copy for free!" so much as these other guys went out of their way to send us stuff to review, so I'll give them priority.

it should be DVDtalk Collector's Series or whatever the highest honor is. This is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The extras are also top notch (see the guide to marriage). I'm sure there is another site somewhere that reviewed it.......

Adam makes some really good points here about issues that come up all the time with readers. I know a lot of readers like to say we get "free" DVDs, but we more than "pay" for them with the time obligation to watch them (every title that's sent to a reviewer, whether he or she requested it, or it was assigned, has to be reviewed), as well as with the time it takes to write a good, thoughtful review. That can be a considerable chunk of time, particularly if the movie has a ton of extras (multiple commentaries, featurettes), or if you do TV seasons or series. Multiply those hours by the amount of material that comes in all the time (you can see our lists of upcoming stuff on our Reviewer's Profiles), and the time commitment is enormous. Many times, it would be far cheaper to skip reviewing altogether, and just buy the sets we want, if you work out how much time we spend reviewing, versus what we would make per hour at any other job we hold. I would venture that for most of us, on average, it's far more expensive to review a title we received for "free," than it would be to just go out and buy it, with no review expected.

Hmmmm.......I quit.

I thought you got laid off every time one of the TV series you review ended?

But as they say; "It's hard out here for a critic."

Got this movie in the mail for blu-ray yesterday afternoon, and submitted the review this evening. Should be on the site relatively soon.

Agreed 100% a priority must be given to the ones who send them in. I also understand the backlog. I think they should have sent you guys a copy though. Oh well its all good.

They did, eventually: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/36160/pineapple-express/

(Y'know, Michael, it's okay to put two or three sentences into one paragraph. )
