DVD Talk review of 'Beavis and Butt-Head, Vol. 1: The Mike Judge Collection'
I read Kenny Herzog's DVD review of Beavis and Butt-Head, Vol. 1: The Mike Judge Collection at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=18546 and...
...you might want to add a note in there when talking about the "director's cuts". They aren't what you'd think they are. Many have been EDITED DOWN from their original form, not expanded with previously censored bits. |

They're edited down because of the missing music videos though, right? If so, that's a necessary evil.

Well, that's odd. I wonder why Mike Judge approved that...

Here's a second, more in-depth review of it:
http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=18637 But still no mention of the edits. |

Without something to base the original shows on (all I had was my memories) I cannot comment with complete authority on any missing material. Judge makes a couple of comments in the bonus material that might help.
He says that there is some random violence and a scene of paint thinner sniffing added back into the episodes. He also pulls the old REN AND STIMPY argument saying that Paramount cut many of the shows for syndication/censorship issues way back when and now no longer "owns" the episodes in their original form. Since he does not own the show, this is the version of the series he is 'stuck' putting out. I will say, as much as I enjoy B&B, the lack of vidoes - and now this information - makes me suspicious about sets 2 and 3. ![]() BILL |

Aren't a lot of those comparisons against the Time-Life discs? They would have got those masters from Paramount originally, so they could have been used for this. There are two explanations: Mike Judge is bonkers, randomly cutting stuff. Or Paramount got lazy.

I've done the comparisons with the Time Life discs, my old VHS tapes, and episodes airing RIGHT NOW on MTV2 and Comedy Central. Therefore, the first explanation that Mike Judge is bonkers, is the correct one.
