DVD Talk review of 'Excel Saga - The Imperfect Collection'
I read Don Houston's DVD review of Excel Saga - The Imperfect Collection at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=13031 and decided to do another one of these threads ^^;
To clarify something near the beginning of your review: F City isn't Tokyo, it's Fukuoka, the home of manga author Koshi Rikdo. According to the translation notes in vol 5 of Viz's release of the Excel Saga manga, it isn't referred to by its full name because of "the odd self-censorship one can often find in manga, where entire major citieis are referred to only by initial, out of fear local civic organisations might take offence. This is also (in part) why a disproportionate number of stories seem to take place in Tokyo".
It's also worth noting that the anime is quite different from the manga it was based on - if you're giving credit to someone's imagination, it would have to be the director, Shinichi Watanabe (a.k.a. Nabeshin - who, of course, inserted himself as a character in the series). Also, Young King Ours is the magazine that Excel Saga ran in... it's not the name of Rikdo's manga as the review seems to suggest.

Hola Phil. Hey, you may want to e-mail the reviewers when you find an error in one of our anime reviews....we do the best we can as volunteers, but obviously we're gonna make mistakes....only problem is we can't correct our errors when we don't know about them....we don't check the forums every day.
In any case, your anime knowledge is insanely good....why aren't you working for one of the companies ? :-)

Fair enough - I'll e-mail when I get home later. That does make sense ^^;
I don't think anime knowledge alone is really sufficient for a job in the industry... plus I'm in the wrong country Besides, this is NOTHING compared to some of the people at Anime on DVD...
