Any "Dazed and Confused" Flashback Ed. reviews yet?
I want to see if this is worth picking up for $12.99.

If you have the current edition, I'd vote no unless anamorphic widescreen enhancement is a big selling point. If you don't have the current release and don't mind forking over your credit card for a beefed-up special edition a year or two down the road, go for it. I wasn't bowled over by the deleted scenes (although admittedly, I'm one of six or seven people on the planet that isn't a fan of the movie), and none of the other extras are directly related to the film.

I don't have the old edition and do like the movie a lot. Not love, but like a lot. Was the a & v very good however?
How do you know there will be another edition? Thanks for info.

I don't know that there will be another edition, but Richard Linklater is extremely unhappy with this one, and he's pushing for Universal to license the movie to Criterion. If this happens at all, it's at least a year away. He had a slew of extras he wanted on this DVD, but they couldn't all be prepared in time for the release date Universal set, and they weren't willing to bump back the date to accomodate. The audio's great (DTS/Dolby Digital 5.1), and the video's not overwhelmingly spectacular but about as good as can be expected. It's definitely worth $12.99 as long as you go in knowing that a meatier special edition could be hitting stores a year or two from now.

I have one for the "Ultimate Party Collection" (the Flashback Edition of Dazed and Confused and the re-release of Fast Times at Ridgemont High) at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=13043

I got it. If you have a widescreen tv, get it. The DTS is also good with such a soundtrack heavy movie. The deleted scenes are AWFUL and there really are not any good extras. I have no regrets because of the enhanced widescreen picture.
